"Our graduation was just around the corner. People were studying for the finals while thinking about the prom, that was coming up a day after, not like it was anything special. I put my school work over my social life though, wanting to make my nonno proud.."
-
"I don't get prom." Lovino said, staring at the bright purple flyer with fancy handwriting. It was advertising their college's prom theme for the graduating students, which included him, Tonio and Alfred, explaining how much were the tickets and the date and other useless information. "Prom is supposed to be special." Tonio replied, standing next to Lovino. He was looking at the flyer as well. "I still don't understand it. You ask someone to prom, they could reject you, then you buy tickets which are overly priced and awkwardly dance the night away with your partner." Not to mention he had to have social interactions with people while they battle each other with their mouths. "You'll learn to enjoy it."
"Says the one who always gets flirted with." Lovino huffed and started to walk to the library. He and Tonio needed to study for their upcoming exams. "You get flirted with too," The Spaniard gestured to a small group of girls who glanced their way. "You just have higher standards than I do."
"Oh yeah? What are your standards?""If they look cute and their personality is sweet then it's a go for me." Tonio smiled and continued walking alongside Lovino. The library was coming into view. "What are your standards Lovino?"
"Hm..." Lovino thought as he opened the library door with his free hand for Tonio. The said man walking into the library and standing off to the side, not wanting to block people's way. "Maybe.. If they have a wonderful smile or great personality... Fun to hang out with... something along those lines."
"And those girls that were looking at us not your type?"
"Nope." Lovino strided into the library and took the first empty table, putting his books down. His arms almost felt like jelly, carrying three heavy textbooks and binders. Geeze! College is trying to murder him, making him carry so many books and binders just to study for a few last exams! "Wow, you're so harsh." Tonio sat down across from Lovino and let his books rest on the table. "I'm not harsh, I just don't think some people are attractive.""And here I thought Italians were the greatest lovers."
"We are, but sometimes, when we like someone, we stay loyal.""So, you like someone?" Tonio twisted Lovino's words and raised a brow. "Like someone? Me? No." Lovino took out his English binder and started to skim through his notes. "Since when would I like someone."
"You just said you did." The brunette across from Lovino pointed out. "Tonio, stop spouting lies I do not." The Italian gazed up at Tonio, both their green eyes rivaling each others, they were a tad angry at each other. "You just did. You said 'when we like someone, we stay loyal'"
"No, I didn't! Shut up Tonio!""Just admit it and we'll be fine!"
"Hey guys!" A familiar, bubbly voice interrupted their little feud. "Oh, hey, Alfred!" Tonio greeted, his demeanor changing to a more kinder one. Lovino huffed and looked away, "Yeah, Hi Alfred." The blond smiled and sat down in between the two friends. "Dude! Did ya hear? Prom is coming up!" He spoke quite excitedly. Lovino took a glance at Alfred, he still looked the same, he looked like the little kid he once knew in a 19-year-old body. "And? You thinking of asking someone there?" Tonio asked, with a small smirk. "I dunno, I wanna, but I don't think they're going."
"That seems sad, Alfred." The Spaniard mumbled with a sigh. "I bet you, if you ask, they'll go along with you." Lovino took a glance at Alfred as he and Tonio talked. Alfred felt a little sadder than usual, a bit disappointed as well, that is, according to Lovino. "Yeah, it's okay, Tonio, dude. I'll just not go to prom.""No!" Lovino interjected, quite loud. People looked up from their textbooks and looked at the three of them, making the brunette Italian feel slightly flustered. "I mean," He sat down and huffed. "You need to go to prom. I'll help you win this person over if you go." The American to his left started to smile; Lovino swore he saw the other's blue eyes light up with joy. "You will?"
"I will, promise."
"Hell yeah! I'll see you after my next class at your dorm! Bye!" Alfred sat up and shot Lovino one of his heroic smiles. "See ya Lovi!"
"Bye... Alfie." Lovino smiled slightly and waved as Alfred walked out of the library. "So, he's aloud to call you Lovi?"
"He's the only one aloud to you ass!" Lovino turned bright red and pushed Tonio out of his seat while the other was laughing his ass off.-- Definitely, Maybe --
I hope he's not late, Lovino thought as he stared out the window. He sat on his bed, a blanket draped over his feet as he had his textbook open on his lap. "That bastard, making me wait all the time." He muttered as his eyes scanned through the text. Everything he read didn't stick in his mind since it was full of the American that was suppose to be here, in his dorm, making plans about wooing some person the other had a thing for; the thought kinda made Lovino's heart shatter a bit. "That jerk! When he comes here I'm going to murder him..."
"Lovi!" Alfred called from the other side of the door. "Sorry I'm late I kinda got caught up in studying." Lovino jumped up from his seat and sprinted to the door. Thank the Tomato Lord that Alfred didn't forget their meeting. "Hey." Lovino said, acting cool as he opened the door for Alfred. He moved aside to let the other inside. "'Sup!" The American stepped inside the dorm room and took off his shoes. He was raised well, noted Lovino as they made their way over to the bed, taking a seat beside each other. "So, about the person you want to ask.."
"Yeah," Alfred scratched the back of his neck. "I heard them talking about prom as I was walking in between classes. I don't think they're going."
"Well, I'm here to help you." Lovino swore he felt something. "That's best friends are for right?" Alfred smiled and nodded. "Yeah. That's what best friends are for."
"And, since I'm your best friend, I have to help you get your happy ending." The Italian quoted what Alfred had told him long ago. "Fine. Me first then you."
"Seems fair, you ass." Alfred laughed at Lovino's reply, falling back onto the other's bed. "I hope they're able to come.""They will, I promise you that Alfie." Lovino took out a pencil and paper and handed it to Alfred. "Now, tell me your ideas on trying to woo this person!" Alfred obeyed Lovino's request and started to write his ideas, getting slightly distracted a bit by drawing little doodles on the side of his paper. "Wait, do they have to be romantic ideas?"
"No shit Sherlock!" Lovino groaned and facepalmed. "How do you expect to win them over, Alfie?!"
"With burgers, smiles, hugs and heroism!"
