I woke up to the sound of screams, put on my combat boots and went to see where they were coming from.
I Heard steps and voices behind me and for a moment I panicked, I don't know what they would do to me if they find me out of my room at this time. I tried to find a way out by touching the walls for a sign of a door or an alley or anywhere I could hide.
The voices where getting louder and the screams where getting creepier every passing second, I felt sweat forming in my forehead.
I felt a hand cover my mouth and pull me somewhere.
I tried to scream, but it was worthless, nobody could hear me.
My breathing accelerated and my vision started to become blurry
— "I'll let you go, but only if you promise you won't scream, understood?" — it was a woman's or a girl's voice probably not much older than me.
I nodded and she let me go, my hand flew to my chest and my breathing started to become normal.
— "That was close" — the girl's voice became distant, but I didn't know where she was everything was dark.
— "Oh, I'm sorry" — I Heard how she went through her stuff until I guess she found what she was looking for.
Everything started to make sense when she turned her flashlight on, we were in a room almost identical to mine, except for the redhead in the bed.
I looked down not knowing what to day, silence invading the room.
— "I could do with a thank you" — the girl scoffed, her smile never leaving her face.
— "I can't believe they brought you here, you're the younger one I've seen, I'm Leela by the way" —.
— "Clove, and thanks for the help" — I showed her the best smile I had.
— "Oh, it's ok. Have you been here for long?" —.
— "No" — my voice barely audible.
— "I guessed so, you get used to it, the screams I mean, after a while you won't even notice them" — I half-smiled hoping that I would be gone before this became normal.
— "Why are they screaming" — I said, getting closer to the light.
— "They're being punished, it gets out of control every once in a while" — Leela said, her expression becoming darker.
— "Have they punished you?" — pain went through her face, ratting her out.
— "I was late for training once, it wasn't pretty" — she put the flashlight on her bed and pulled her sleeve up. Her arm was covered in scars, some looked quite recent. — "They like to remind you who's in charge" — I looked away feeling uncomfortable.
— "You'll be fine, we'll just wait for them to go so I can take you back to your room" — she smiled and patted the bed for me to sit. — "You must be special for them to recruit you this early" — she laid down making me hard to see her expression.
— "I helped a boy that was trying to escape, well he was kind of helping me I guess. They took my sister away" — a tear slide down my cheek.
— "I'm sorry, they hadn't done that, at leat not since I'm here" — she shrugged and looked at me.
— "I think they're gone, let's go" — I followed her not saying a thing until we arrived at my room.
— "Thanks again Leela, I hope I didn't give you any trouble" — I smiled and she did the same.
— "It's okay, Clove now go in or we'll get ourselves in trouble" —.
I went back to sleep until the morning alarm went off.
A wave of children flooded the hallway and I followed them to the cafeteria. I looked for Cat but he wasn't there. I hope that he hasn't chickened out or something.
Second day of training started, I was only a few hours away of seeing my sister.
This time they didn't take me to the gym, but to a room full of kids that did the same; threw knives.
And do I did it, the instructor supervised us and hit us when we didn't nail what he had taught us.
Finally, the end of training alarm went off.
Time to get some action.
A/N: Long time no see, I know I'm the worst writer ever. Stuff got in the way, and I was just blocked, so anyway I hoped you enjoyed this chapter, even though is a filler more coming your way, hopefully. Next one will be better, promidse ;)
