Chapter 13

Two men and a woman surrounded my sister, slightly blocking the sight of her. Chills were no longer running through my back, now replaced by a voice saying run, take her and get out of here.

My mind and my body wanted to do two completely different things, causing me to go into a little state of shock. I froze into place, looking at both the door and the doctor every few seconds.

I wanted Cassidy to look up and see me, to know that I had not given up and that the promise I made to her the first day we arrived was still present in my mind. But her long black hair covered the vast majority of her face, and I knew that if I made a wrong move the only thing I'd manage to do was them taking her away again.

So I decided to play by the rules, I took my clothes and got dressed.

In that moment one of the peacekeepers called for the girls' nurse, who a short time later called the doctor. I finished getting dressed and was about to get back to my room when I saw a new group round the corner.

I was completely alone in the little white room, everything at my finger tips and, when I saw the blonde hair I knew it was now or never. I took some of the syringes that were in the trays closest to the door. I made sure there were no moors on the coast and I hid them inside my boots.

My heart beat a thousand miles per hour, I knew that in a few hours I would be with Cassidy probably running from everything and everyone. That or I would be in a heck of a problem.

Some peacekeepers had returned to their positions, so I was very careful to "stumble" into Cato.

-Meet me in my room after bedtime -I whispered in his ear, hoping no one had seen me that he listened and, most of all that he would show up.

I came into my room, I was alone. I did not know where Leela might be, or how long she would take.

The more I tried to concentrate on being able to come up with a plan to save my sister and get us out of here, the more I became frustrated. I didn't know the structure of the building well enough, there were more peacekeepers than ever and I had no weapons available.

I only had the few syringes I was able to collect so any plan I came up with had to be perfect, or we'd end up worse than now.

Minutes became hours when I listened to the password knock on the door. Without hesitation a redhead girl came into the room.

-Clove, are you okay? -she sat in the bed watching me go to one side to the other of the room.

-Cassidy's here - I took a deep breath - I was so close Leela, I need to get us out of here - I couldn't put my thoughts in order, so many ideas and such little time.

- What are you talking about, Clove? - she frowned waiting for me to answer, I had told her everything that had happened since we ran away from Rilus, and now she acted like a big sister.

-We have to come up with a plan, they're going to take her soon, Stone Kyle is here and I think we both know why. I can't lose her again, Leela. -my eyes started to tear up like never before. Tears of frustration, anger, sadness, impotency, all I had felt in these days of captivity.

-I'll help-I stopped dead in my tracks looking at the girl.

-No Leela, I can't put you at risk. If I do this it will be by myself, and if it goes wrong I'll face the consequences... alone. - I stared at her waiting for her reaction, I knew the girl was no good at obeying orders -please, I can't lose you too -I pleaded, trying to make her understand that this was more dangerous that we could ever imagine.

-Then we have a lot of planning to do -she smiles and then crossed her arms, knowing that she wouldn't take a no for an answer.
