Gerard was crying. Why? Because he couldn't do eyeliner. Why did it matter? Well, Gerard wanted to try something today, something... Different. The only one who knew he was doing it was his brother. So when Mikey found his brother crying on his bedroom floor, he had rolled his eyes. He didn't want to deal with this.
"Gerard, I swear to god, you look fine. Your eyeliner looks perfect. If I called Pete over right now, he'd tell you the same thing."
Pete was Mikey's friend who was an eyeliner expert. Gerard himself had never really worn eyeliner, but of the few times he had, Pete had put it on him. And if Gerard wasn't wearing a pink skirt with stockings and general "girly" attire, he would've called Pete over to help. But alas, Gerard was keeping this activity a secret.
Mikey stared at his brother for a few more seconds.
"I'm gonna call Frank," he mumbled as he walked away.
Gerard felt his heart stop and he sprang up to catch his brother. He found him in his room, laying his phone down on his nightstand. Gerard looked at Mikey pleadingly.
"You didn't call him, did you?" Gerard's voice shook.
"I did."
Gerard let out a sob and fell to the ground, albeit a little over-dramatically. He curled up into a ball and cried into his hands. Mikey felt bad for a second before he remembered that Frank loved Gerard more than anything. Then he'd simply rolled his eyes and walked to the front door, awaiting their guest.
The doorbell rang after a few minutes, and Mikey heard Gerard cry out and run back into his own room, slamming the door. Once again, he rolled his eyes as he opened the door.
In front of him stood Frank, red-faced and breathing hard. Mikey moved to allow him entrance, and Frank stepped into the house. Mikey looked at him.
"Did you run all the way here?"
He nodded, trying to calm his breath.
"Frank, you live two blocks away! You could've just driven or walked."
"You said Gerard was upset, so I ran as fast as I could. Where is he?"
Mikey pointed at Gerard's door. Frank nodded and walked over to it. He tried the door handle, but it was locked. He knocked lightly.
"Go away," Gerard sobbed.
"Gee, it's me. Let me in?"
"No."
"Please, baby? I just wanna help you. I love you and I hate to see you upset."
"I- I can't..."
"Aww, Gee, you can tell me anything. I love you, Gerard, and nothing you say or do could ever change that."
"I'm s-sorry Frank, b-but I can't. I'm sorry...so sorry..."
Frank turned back to Mikey, who was busy texting Pete asking for eyeliner tips for Gerard. He may be fed up with Gerard's overreaction to all of this, but he wasn't heartless. He looked up when Frank made a what the fuck is wrong with my poor boyfriend gesture.
Mikey sighed and walked to the kitchen, signaling Frank to follow. He reached into one of the cabinets and pulled out a small screwdriver. He handed it to Frank.
"This'll unlock his door. If he makes any threats about hurting you or something when you come in, just keep going, he won't do anything to you. Although, if he threatens to do something to himself, you're probably gonna have to talk him down. I think you'll be okay with the whole "issue" but if you're not, keep it to your goddamned self until after you leave him. I don't want my brother getting hurt. Have fun."
And with that, Mikey patted Frank on the back and walked out the front door. Frank just stood there trying to process everything. He decided he'd just go in and see for himself what the whole ordeal was about. And Mikey didn't have to worry about him voicing a negative opinion to Gerard; he wouldn't hurt him like that ever.
So while he pondered what could possibly be Gerard's reason for hiding, he stuck the small screwdriver into the tiny hole in the door. He wiggled it around and jimmied the lock til it turned. He heard Gerard yell and the sound of him moving around on his bed. As Frank opened the door, he saw the shaking lump under the covers.
"Aw Gee," he crooned.
He sat on the edge of the bed, laying his hand where he thought Gerard's head might be.
"Baby, it's okay. I'll love you no matter what. I promise you. Even if you told me you're secretly a lizard person," Frank said, trying to get a chuckle out of his boyfriend. He didn't.
Gerard took a deep breath and timidly pulled the covers off of his face, peeking up to look at Frank.
Frank stared down at his boyfriend. By all rights, Gerard shouldn't have looked good. He had smudged eyeliner, his mascara was running, and his hair was everywhere. But all Frank could see was Gerard and the rest of the "imperfections" somehow added to his beauty.
"Wow, Gee, you look gorgeous," Frank said breathlessly.
Gerard pulled the covers back over his head, mumbling about how Frank was full of shit. Frank gently pulled the covers back, revealing Gerard's face again. He leaned down and wrapped his arms around Gerard, dragging him from underneath the sheets.
Gerard made no struggle, simply closing his eyes and turning away from Frank. He didn't want to see his reaction.Frank's eyes skimmed over Gerard's body. He was wearing a black misfits shirt with a waist-high red plaid skirt and black stockings.
Frank stared for a few seconds, mouth agape at how hot Gerard looked. Honestly, he wanted to take it all off of his boyfriend one garment at a time, but instead he settled for gently kissing Gerard's neck.
Although he was confused as to what exactly was happening, Gerard couldn't suppress the breathy moan that escaped his lips. Frank continued kissing up his neck, moving to where he was hovering over his boyfriend. He pulled off and looked Gerard in the eyes.
"I love you." He leaned down to kiss his cheek.
"You're perfect." He kissed his jawline.
"You're the most attractive human being to ever walk the earth." He kissed his neck again, letting his lips linger on that spot.
"And I'm lucky enough to call you mine," he mumbled against his neck.
Frank moved to kiss Gerard properly. Gerard melted into the kiss, only registering the feeling of Frank's lips on his. When they pulled away to breathe, they both stared into each other's eyes, telling each other everything without saying a word.
Gerard suddenly reached up and pulled Frank down. Frank landed next to him, smiling. They turned on their sides to look at each other. Gerard had a small grin on his face, and Frank was overjoyed that he was able to accomplish that.
Frank pulled Gerard close, and the older boy rested his head against his shoulder. Frank kissed the top of his head.
"You know I love you no matter what. If you decided tomorrow that you were a girl, or a boy and a girl, or neither, or otherwise, I'll still love you. You're my Gee, and I love you forever."
Gerard nodded into Frank's shoulder. He knew that now. And it felt good to know that.
"I don't think I want to be a girl," Gerard mumbled quietly," I just... Like to feel...pretty... Sometimes."
Frank leaned down and kissed him again.
"Okay, baby. Whatever you feel is right for you. I'll support you every step of the way. I love you ."
"I love you, too."
