For hours it seemed Mercy stood and twirled the copper wire, in the end she had grown bored and sat in a chair and watched Victor. He was like a one man army, never seeming to falter, very adamant on getting this done it seemed before Igor returned tomorrow, or tonight.
Mercy's eyes flashed at that, they slowly widened as she lifted her head away from her hand. "I think Igor's in love." This seemed to get a reaction, Victor stopped his work and turned to look at her with a frown. Mercy smiled at him, "Isn't that sweet?"
"Is it?"
"It is," Mercy continued to smile. Victor ran a hand down the slightly marked apron he was wearing before walking over to her, he rolled his sleeves up as he went and by the time he crouched down in front of her, he was seemingly frowning even more. "You don't like her, do you? Honestly, why?" Mercy quite liked Lorelei, she had been firstly very suspicious, defence for Igor was a rather sudden prominent thing. Naturally she had been wary of the dark haired female. But, they knew each other, even if it was from afar; and Lorelei was actually a really nice person. Courteous, kind, thoughtful, honestly Mercy could not see why Victor did not seem to be fond of her. She smirked and leaned forwards, placing her arms around his neck she rested her forehead against his. "Jealous?"
"Sorry?"
"Someone stealing your little friend away, hm? Your little science buddy?"
Victor frowned at her and looked at her incredulously. "Mercy," he said lowly, she opened her eyes and looked at him. "No."
"I think you are." Mercy moved away from him slightly. Cupping his face, she looked at him sadly. "Believe me when I say, I think Igor knows the importance of your work. He knows, and I don't know if you see the worry and the heavy thoughts which he struggles with when this work is involved. Give him a break, Victor. Let him enjoy one evening, dancing away like the two left footed boy he is, and get over your brooding. He'll come back. You know he will." Mercy said with a small shake of her head. "He isn't over ruling this, he isn't putting this below something else. I don't know if you know how much he does value the opportunity you've given him." She said while kissing him on the forehead before moving away and stood up. She managed to edge around him and looked over her shoulder as he stood back up. "You look like you could do with a break too." She commented with a wave of her hand. "You'll burn out." Though she actually doubted that. She moved throughout the room and stopped when she reached one bookcase of many which littered his home.
Running her fingers across the spines, she tapped one book which had caught her attention and pulled it out. Turning and flipping the cover, she skimmed the first page with a gentle frown on her face. She was too busy trying to see if she would like this book, that she hadn't realised that Victor had moved over to her side.
She paid attention though when the book was simply plucked from her hands. "Hey! Do you mind?" Mercy exclaimed with a small frown, she watched as he simply threw the apron to one side, it sort of landed half on a desk in a corner, and he turned the book in his hands before putting it back.
Mercy continued to look at him oddly as he placed his hands on her shoulders, turned her around and nudged her gently down towards the main living room. She sent an odd look over her shoulder as he waved a hand to the coach, before he took to lighting the fire again. Since earlier on it had died down to embers.
She sat down and just seemed utterly bemused.
What exactly was this?
She looked up and watched as he moved over and sat beside her. "Sorry, this is bugging me, what are you doing?"
"I believe," Victor started while leaning back into the cushions of the coach. He put his legs up and on the coffee table, before entwining his hands over his stomach. He watched the flames in the hearth slowly gather and grow, before looking at her. "It's what you called 'a break'."
Mercy looked him up and down, with a shrug, she swung her legs up beside her before shuffling along and eventually laying down on his lap. She laid on her back and looked up at him. "You're at a loss, aren't you?"
Victor placed a hand on her head and took to running his fingers through her hair. "Yes. It's somewhat boring."
"I have to admit, I don't think I've seen you be so still. You're always moving about like a motion blur. Are you sure you're really Victor? You're not like an imposter or something, are you?" Mercy looked at him with mock horror.
Victor smiled and leaned his head back. "Well..."
"You're meant to just answer no, Victor." Mercy laughed and sat up, his hand fell from her head as he tilted his head to look at her. "Go and work...it's clearly what you want to do. Even more so if you're on a deadline, I suppose you can't waste time laying around in front of a fire with me."
"Even if I want to?"
"You can do whatever you want then, in that case." Mercy raised an eyebrow and smirked at him. She crossed her arms and gave him a sure nod, he'd do whatever he wished to with or without her permission anyhow.
"Whatever I want, hm?" Victor looked at her curiously, Mercy frowned at him suddenly.
"I don't like that look." She pointed a finger at him. "That's the look you have when scheming." Mercy said while he continued to look at her thoughtfully, but now a smirk had well and truly appeared on his face. "And usually-" Mercy got cut off as he rather suddenly, yet gently, pulled her to him.
She landed against him with a quiet yelp, yet even this got cut off as she was suddenly kissed. Her eyes slipped to a close and she relaxed against him, soon tangling her fingers in his hair as he readjusted his hold on her and managed to pull her up and onto his lap.
"That...well..." Mercy said while pulling away after the niggling feeling of needing to breathe kicked in.
Victor smiled, "You're struggling with your words, dear. Are you feeling all right?"
"No, Doctor, no I don't think I do...I'm struggling to breathe, you see, something quite literally just took my breath away."
"Oh, that's awful."
"It wasn't awful."
"No?"
"No," Mercy leaned forwards and only just skimmed her lips against his. "No, I quite liked it." She kissed him fully and giggled against his lips as he tightened his hold on her and somehow, she wasn't totally sure how, managed to moved them so they were laying down. Luckily enough the over padding and size of the coach meant that neither were squashed, or falling off.
Actually, Mercy had to admit to herself, it was actually quite comfortable.
"I have to say," Victor said while managing to lean up and rest his head against his hand as his other hand simply rested against her stomach. He absentmindedly took to picking at some loose threads on her jumper while she just tilted her head slightly to look at him. "These break ideas of yours are quite a good suggestion." Mercy couldn't help but laugh quietly, yet she reached up and placed a hand against his shoulder, before trailing it up to rest against his cheek. He removed his hand from her stomach and gently clutched onto it and kissed her palm.
"I can have my moments of genius." Mercy said while huddling into him, "What can I say?" She leaned up and kissed him again, earning a content sigh from him as she did so.
