"(L/N)-San! (L/N)-San!" I felt myself being shaken violently, my eyes opening slowly as they landed on a hysterical Hinami. She was trembling as she held me by the shoulders, tears pouring out of her red and puffy eyes. My head ached, as I shakily sat up, only to be embraced by her. "Oh thank God, (L/N)-San! You're alright!" She held onto me tightly, her tears falling onto my shoulder. I slowly pushed her off of me, I found it a bit difficult to breathe and I was still groggy.
"What happened? What's up with you?" I heard a metallic sound coming across the room from us, as it scraped the cold concrete floor.
"Ah, so you weren't dead. That's good." I looked up, seeing a strange man wearing a clown mask. He brought in food on a tray, walking back towards the door. We were in a cell. I held my head, immediately regretting it as I pulled my hand away, finding some partially dried blood on my forehead. I looked over to Hinami, she read the look in my eyes as she wiped her tears away.
"He threw you in here, you've been unconscious for about a day or two now." She let out a shaky breath as she looked over to the others. "I don't exactly know how long we've been in here for, but I kept track since I've woken up." She brought her knees up to her chest. "I really hope I woke up once we got here, that it's only been two days." This kept going on for a few days, maybe nine or ten. Today he threw in an unconscious girl, she fell face first, her head meeting the floor as he pushed another girl in who was frantically struggling to get away. She fell to her knees in tears as she held the other girl in her arms, sobbing out her name before the door was slid shut.
I turned my attention to the other two girls, they looked related, like siblings. The younger one slowly regained consciousness, complaining about the pain on her head as the other simply hugged her. I felt a dull pain in my chest as I watched, my mind drifting to my older sister. I wonder how worried she must be, seeing as she'd get mad at me for getting home five minutes later than usual. I felt around in my pockets, checking to see if I still had my phone on me. "They took everything, I'm sure they searched us while we were unconscious." I felt like an idiot. That impact on the head must have really done something to me, seeing as I now lack common sense.
"Are you alright?" Why on earth am I asking this?
"Y-yeah..." Liar. I took a look around, seeing the room being empty, nothing more but a cold floor and the bars surrounding the metal door. I don't see an actual reason for us being kidnapped, at least not us specifically. I never bother with people, and Hinami doesn't seem like the type of person to interact with others to the point where she'd find herself here. I heard a cough come from Hinami, my attention reverting back to her. "He's probably beyond angry now." I raised an eyebrow at her. "He must have already spammed me with text messages and calls, and he's probably already gone over to my house today." She attempted to sound cheerful, but her voice cracked midway as tears began pouring out of her eyes once more.
"Has Kirishima done that before?" I leaned against her as we sat together in the corner of the room. She nodded.
"When I would get sick and miss school, I'd get multiple calls from him." She sniffled. "He gets worried quite easily, and he'd visit me during those times." She gave me a painful smile. "He'd even bring me the homework, a new sketchbook or some other supplies to keep me occupied." The pieces seemed to be falling into place.
"He must really love you, Fueguchi-San." I saw Hinami look up at me as she wore a red blush.
"N-no he doesn't." It's obvious how much the two care for each other.
"But don't you still like him? You might still have a chance." She shook her head, leaning her head back onto my shoulder. "Is there anyone stopping you?" She seemed troubled.
"I do love him, but I see him more as family." Her breathing steadied as she began to rest, it looked like she hadn't slept since we've been here. The room was quite cold, so the closeness helped. After a bit, I looked over to the others, seeing them shivering.
"Hey." The older girl looked at me curiously, she was still shocked about earlier. "If you're cold, you guys can come over here." She looked at her sister, slowly taking her into her arms as she limped over to us. She sat next to me, her younger sister still cradled in her arms. They both had long, brown hair, seeming to only be two to three years apart. The youngest seemed around my age, her sister seemed to be maybe eighteen or twenty. The more I studied her, I noticed multiple fresh bruises on her face and arms. The younger sister seemed to have nothing on her, other than the gash on her forehead from earlier. It seemed as though a day had gone by, nothing but silence in the room and the occasional sobbing from one of them. I had begun nodding off every few minutes, trying to stay awake to make sure Hinami was alright. The door scraped the floor once again, that man entered with a few trays of food.
"Ugh. Why are you all the way over there? I don't get paid enough for this garbage." I could see his sly smile beneath the mask as he let out a chuckle. "I'll just ask for a bit of extra from him, surely that will be worth while." He wore very flashy clothes, I'd be surprised if he grabbed us like that without getting caught. He placed the trays in front of me, another taunting laugh coming from him. "Bon appétit." He sauntered across the room, closing the door behind him as he left. I looked down at the tray, seeing he brought us nothing more than gruel, and small pieces of bread. It wasn't the most appetizing food but it was still food nonetheless, we should take what we can get. I turned to Hinami, shaking her arm slightly to wake her up, which took about a minute or two.
"Fueguchi-San, they brought food." She rubbed her eyes a bit before looking down at the trays. After eating, we simply stared at the door since there was nothing else to do. There was no point on talking, or trying to be positive right now. It was obvious how bad of a situation we're in, and if I bothered mentioning the possibility of us getting rescued, that would just make it more difficult to accept it if we never are. Hinami continued sleeping on my shoulder, getting as much rest as possible. I wonder... Sasaki... Is this what you were hiding? Is this why you were always watching me? It doesn't make any sense, how could he have guessed this would happen to me? Or was he hoping it would go like this? I don't understand, what did I do?
"Are you deaf?" I felt a fist hit me atop my head, accompanied by a loud voice from above me. I let out a whimper, looking up and seeing that man again. "Ah, so you're not!" He tilted his head to the side as he threw an old robe at me. "Change into that for me, if you'd be so kind." I watched him walk towards the door, leaning on it as he snapped his fingers. I glanced over to Hinami, seeing her begin to change as well as she had a red mark on her cheek. I felt angry, how could I have let that happen to her? I slowly stood up, unbuttoning my blouse and changing into the robe, seeing it only reach a bit above my knees. He didn't let me keep anything else on, not even my socks. He took away our previous clothes, leaving us in the freezing cell with only thin and ripped robes. I felt my heart pound loudly against my chest as I heard footsteps approaching the cell from the hallway. My body tensed up as my hands began to sweat, I shakily reached over to grab Hinami's hand as I heard a chilling laugh. I struggled to let out a breath as my eyes met those of my captor. His wide grin making my stomach churn.
