I wake up to the sound of the hustle and bustle of Melbourne's CBD.
The light blinds me as I open my eyes for the first time today.
Harry is lying next to me, with the blankets barely covering him. He's still only in his briefs like he was last night.
I look down at myself to see that I must've put on Harry's shirt last night.
Last night.
Did we actually do all of that?
We almost had sèx. If Niall and Liam hadn't walked in, we definitely would have.
I think so.
I actually can't believe they saw us like that.
They probably saw my boobs. That honestly scares the fûck out of me.
But let's think about this.
I have met every member of - the current - One Direction.
Not everyone can say that.
Let alone almost have sex with one of them.
That's never going to not sound weird.
Beside me, Harry turns to face me, a smile plastered across his face.
"Morning," he says. I will never get sick of that voice. Ever.
"Morning," I reply. I can't help but smile.
He's that perfect.
"That was fun last night...until we got interrupted by drunken men!" He laughs.
"That was so embarrassing...I don't think I can ever face them again," I cringe.
"Well too bad," Harry begins with a smirk. "They're coming to this suite for breakfast.
---------------------
"What do I put on?! I have nothing to wear! I can't wear last night's dress, Harry," I explain.
Liam and Niall are going to arrive any minute, and I honestly can't have them judging me anymore than they already do.
"Just keep that shirt on. It's fine. They are going to be more embarrassed, I can tell you that right now," he says.
Soon enough, there is a knock at the door.
Funny, they didn't know to do that last night, now did they?
Harry grins at me and jogs over to open the door.
Niall and Liam greet him warmly, and then turn to face me.
"...shit...we're really sorry, Eva. Like, no joke. We were pissed last night, and -"
Liam gets cut off by Niall.
"And we didn't see a thing. I swear on me life." He raises his hands up in truce.
"It's no worries, guys. Good to finally meet you, though! You guys are legends!" I tell them, feeling a bit star struck.
"We're legends?! Apparently you're the legend, Eva. Harry's been goin' on 'bout ye for the past week!" Niall laughs his crazy laugh.
"I see what you mean though Haz, she's a catch!" Liam nudges Harry, and he blushes.
Harry's been talking about me?
This will never sink in.
It's too good to be true.
"Breakfast, then?" Harry breaks the silence.
"What's the go with that? Room service, or..." I ask, unsure.
The boys nod, and we all order what we feel like.
Once it has been delivered to the suite, we all sit down at the small table in the living area.
None of us says anything for, like, 3 minutes.
Should I break the silence?
Hmm...
Maybe I should-
"So. Eva, what do you do?" Liam asks me, genuinely interested.
What do I do.
You see, well, nothing.
"Well, I'm sort of taking a gap year at the moment, I'm not sure what I really want to do with my life, if I'm honest..." I say, sheepishly.
"Before all this started, I 'ad no idea what I wanted t' do with me life!" Niall says. "I'm not really sure what I'd be doing now if I wasn't doin' this!" He laughs.
"Same here," Harry says. "Maybe I'd still be working in a bakery."
"Harry, honestly. Enough about your bakery. It's like you're more proud of that job than you are of this one! If I can even call it a job!" Liam says, and everybody laughs.
I can see my phone ringing in the distance, over by the bed.
I decide to ignore it.
"That must be so fun, doing what you lot do. But I can imagine it's stressful too?" I ask to nobody in particular.
"Yeah, it does get a bit tough. But, like, I just take a look at the big picture. I couldn't...ask for anything else. This is what I wanna do," Harry says, truly meaning it.
I can see my phone ringing again, so I decide to go and get it. It's mum.
Strange.
"Sorry, I've just gotta take this call." I walk out onto the balcony and close the door. I can see Harry looking at me, as well as the others.
"Hi mum, what's up?" I ask.
"I've booked a flight, I'll be home tomorrow," she says. She sounds flustered.
"What? You're not supposed to be back for ages! What's happened?!" I'm worried, now. What if she saw the photos and is mad at me?
"Your grandpa had a really bad fall, and, well, I'm sorry, Eva..."
Oh my god.
I can't breathe.
He can't be dead.
When was the last time I spoke to him?
I can feel the tears forming in my eyes.
I crouch down, trying to breathe easily, but it's not working.
I have to hold it in.
Harry is inside.
I look at my phone, and mum has hung up.
I actually can't believe this.
You really don't know what you've got till its gone.
I go back inside, stifling back the tears. Harry has concern written all over his face.
"What's wrong Eva?" He rushes over to me, and Niall and Liam look concerned too.
"It's nothing. I don't really wanna talk about it, I'm just gonna head home. I'll go get changed." I pick up my clothes from last night and head into the bathroom.
Harry hasn't said anything else.
I just need to go.
I need to mourn on my own until mum comes home.
I was really close with my grandpa.
And now he's gone.
I come back out of the bathroom, and say, "I'm just going to get an uber. I'll talk to you soon. Great meeting you, guys!" I try to be as enthusiastic as possible.
"Are you sure you're ok?" Liam asks.
I really don't need this.
I know they care about me, but I just need to get out of here before the tears start again.
"Yeah! I'm great. Bye, Harry." I give Harry a kiss on the cheek.
"I can drive you! Please, there really isn't any point getting an uber...just let me drive you," Harry says, stroking my arm.
"I'd rather be on my own for now. I'll call you. But thanks. Bye everyone."
Niall and Liam say goodbye but Harry looks hurt.
I feel bad, but this is what I need to do. As I shut the door, I hear Niall say, "it's alright, Haz. I'm sure she'll tell you when she's ready."
The tears have started.
And they won't stop.
