Tragedy girl

The next morning i woke up at around 10:30. Thank god it's the holidays other wise i would be getting ready for a school. I had half an hour to have a shower and meet Laura so i quickly got up and got orginised. I left the house at 10 to and even though i was early, Laura was there waiting for me. She had her red hair in a messy bun and she was wearing sun glasses a scalf and what look like her pajama pants.

"Hello hobo, you just look fabulous this morning!" i said to her sarcastically after i ordered myself a white chocolate frapechino with an extra shot of caffeine. (I need it)
"Shut up i woke up like ten minutes ago," she replied.
"You're the one who said to meet at this time."
"Ugh whatever. So what's new?" i told her about how i was going to tell my mum about Lucas and about some stupid gossip i overheard that i know Laura would be interested in. But obviously Laura had all the news and interrupted me.
"So yesterday i was walking with Tane and this girl comes up to him-i have never seen her before in my life-she comes and was like 'c'ya later Tane' in this flirty voice. And she winked at him! so then i had to try and get something outa Tane. He could be cheating on me!" blah blah blah i kind of zoned out.

"And its now 11:40 you should go get your mum," she finally finished talking. I added in the occasional 'no way' or 'seriously?' but she just went on and on about random stuff.

The way to Abracadabra was pretty quiet. My mum and i didnt make much conversation. It was also silent when we were waiting for Lucas. When he finally arrived, i sighed with relief. He hauled himself into the chair opposite us with what looked like alot of effort.
"What would we all like to order today?" Lucas said in his best waiters voice.
"Chicken enchilada please and a fejioa juice." my mum ordered, playing along. My mum did know Lucas. Quite well really. i have been friends with him since i was year 8 and our families are also friends.
"Lentil, kumara and pumpkin tagine and a coke." I told him.
"Cool my shout," Lucas said. He went up to the counter to order our food.

When our food finally arrived. Lucas and I made eye contact and i started explaining.
"So mum, we kinda brought you here to tell u something." I stopped and surveyed her expression. She looked...almost bored.
"Yeah i know." She said bluntly. I was actually really surprised!! Is she serious??
"You two have been together for nearly 6 months and you set this whole lunch date up to tell me.... even though i already know."
We were all silent while we let this sink in. She knew? but how? Laura, it was definitly Laura.
"It was Laura wasnt it." Lucas guessed. My mum nodded and started eating her food. Well i wasnt sure what to make of that situation. I couldnt tell whether she's approved of us or not. Then a huge smile spread across her face.
"Ha! i couldnt hold it in! im
So happy!! i knew this day would come!eeeeeeee" she squealed. Lucas looked very surprised.

We spent the rest of lunch just talking. It was nice to finally tell her or know that she knows. After we had finished our meals, we exited the restaurant and walked down the street to our cars. Mum got into the passenger seat and i went to say bye to Lucas.
"Thank you for coming. Even though she already knew about us" i laughed. Lucas looked down on me with his wide blue eyes. I could tell we both wanted it to happen.
"No problem," Lucas leant down and put his hand round my waist. I quickly glanced over at mum who was on her phone paying no attention to us. I buried my hands into Lucas's blonde hair as he kissed me. It was the first we had kissed. It felt like every worry i ever had melted away and all that mattered was us and that moment. My mum tooted the horn and i knew that was our que. reluctantly, i pulled away from Lucas.
"I will call you tomorrow." I said.
"Okay bye babe." he called me babe!!
Smiling like an idiot i join mum in the car and we started heading home.

We lived about ten minutes out of town on the state highway. Our house is quite small only three bedrooms. We used to have a tree house until the storm last year ripped it apart.

The rain started setting in as i reached the Pak n save traffic lights. I always felt worried driving in the rain. It's not too busy in town at the moment which helps. Even though its only 1:30 it feels like 6. The mist and heavy rain makes everything dark and hard to see. The light transitions from red to green and i cautiously make my way through the traffic lights.

Mum is looking out her window and i glanced at her for a second. She looked so happy; so content. God i love her. Then. She whipped around in her seat with a look of sheer terror. behind her i saw two headlights coming closer too fast for me to comprehend whats happened.
"Jess i love you," was the last thing i heard before the head lights reached us. Screeching and screaming; Our car skidded in all directions. The other car plunged into the side of my beautiful red Suzuki.

I only knew then that something horrible had just happened. I hit my head. I dont know where. I let my consciousness float away.
