I put my phone down and slumped onto my couch. I lived alone in a cozy little apartment with only a bedroom, a kitchen, a bathroom, and living room. It wasn't much, but it was affordable and had everything I needed.

Mark once proposed that I move in with him, but we were only around six months into the relationship. Also, being a Catholic girl with strict Catholic parents, I couldn't simply just do that. So, every now and then, Mark and I just stayed at each other's places. I loved my apartment, though.

When I felt my phone buzz, I thought it would be Mark. But the screen just showed a random number.

From: Unknown Number
hola sara. it's me sergio. boss gave me your number because i forgot to ask about my treatment

I quickly shot back a text.

To: Unknown Number
Just stay as immobile as possible. No pain killers or medicines needed as far as I know. If u think it's getting worse go to the hospital.

From: Unknown Number
ok thank u sara.

After naming Sergio's contact, I laid my phone back down and felt sleep coming over me.

I was awoken by my incredibly annoying ringtone. I quickly grabbed my phone.

Mark 💕 is calling.

"Hey," I greeted.

"Hey babe!" Mark said. "I just got dismissed from work. Perhaps you'd want me to go over and pick you up?"

Standing up and yawning, I said, "I'd love that. Are you cooking?"

He laughed, "You know I can't."

"I was going to suggest pizza," I replied, giggling. "Would you like that?"

"Yeah," he said. "Anyway, I'm about to start driving."

"Put the bloody phone down, then," I joked.

"I was going to," he laughed. "Bye bye, I love you."

"I love you too," I said.

"You hang up?" he teased.

"You know I hate when people do that!" I pouted, even though I knew he couldn't see me.

"Only teasing, m'love," he said. "Bye. Will be there in ten."

"Bye."

Realising I was still in my work clothes, I ran to my bedroom and got changed.

Mark arrived just a minute late, and he held out his hand for me, "Would you do me the honor, m'lady?"

I jokingly curtsied before taking his hand. "Of course."
