I sighed as I turned off the alarm clock then closed my eyes and turned over to settle back to sleep. my sweet slumber was interrupted as my my big brother,Anison, pounded on the door "get up Alexis".

Why Me? I hate getting up at 5:30 in the morning but I guess I gotta do what I gotta do. I lifted my head off the pillow and glared in the direction of the offenders voice and grumbled loudly "I'm up. now go away."

I pulled myself out of bed and wiping the sleep out of my eyes and stumbled toward the bathroom. it was still dark outside.

Ug! I winced as I turned on the bathroom light my poor eyes. blinking a few times, I looked in the mirror over the sink and gasped.

"I LOOK LIKE CRAP" I muttered.

"Couldn't agree more,"my brother chortled outside bathroom door " and hurry up I gotta get in there."

I kicked the door instantly regretting it. OW! I'm am so up now.

I washed up put my brown hair into a  messy bun and then went to go pick out my clothes.

hmmm what to wear. I wonder what he'll think of what I'm wearing today? what if its not cute enough.

I bit my lip then shrugged and settled on a green tank that matched my strange green eyes and a black hoodie them with some skinny jeans and black low top converse, applied a little lip gloss, grabbed my bag, and ran out down stairs for breakfast.

"Mom!! there's no more milk what am I supposed to eat." Anison came in and looked around like and idiot. "What are u looking for u idiot?" I asked him he a shot me a confused look as though my comment didn't faze him and answered "this mysterious mom of which you speak?" then he gave me a smile but I could see the sadness in his green gray eyes that covered for with a joke.

She didnt i thought as a familiar feeling of dread and sadness settled in my stomache. I walked over to him and gave him a hug. " She left again didn't she?" Slowly he nodded. Once again my mom had decided to leave to go who knows where for work and do who knows whatever else without the decency of a warning or a goodbye or even a ill be back .

I sighed loudly and turned from him so he wouldn't see the broken expression on my face. "Oh.wait." I turned around to see what he wanted. he held up a slip of green paper. "Why do I want that ?" i asked annoyed though I know it was not his fault. But he just said " At least this time she left a note" he gave me a half smile. I grinned at him and grabbed the paper while pushing him back "why didn't you tell me ayson?" calling him by his nick name. He just looked at me and shrugged and looked away. i unfolded the paper and began reading my mothers perfect cursive out loud

" Anison and Alexis I have to go Ill be back as soon as i can. there is $900 in the safe for you to use for food and anything else you need. sincerely, Dannika. P.S I gave u a note this time."

I crumpled it up angrily. and threw it in the silver trash can. All we got was a stinking note telling us the obvious. I can see that shes gone I have eyes and she usually does comeback. My eyes began to fill with angry tears that I brushed away quickly then in a distasteful voice I said

"Dear Dannika, I don't friggin care about the note sincerely, your pissed off chi- offspring" My voice caught at the end and i couldn't bring my self to call myself her child.

"X.."my brother started but I rushed past him to the bathroom to wash my face. then in a flat tone I said " come on were gonna be late." giving up with a sigh he grabbed the keys and walked out to the luxurious 300 that my mom bought him. I got in the front seat and looked out the window clearing my mind. a technique that came in handy when I felt stressed.
