I was immediately shifted into business mode as I turned my attention to the horror that was on the screen. Before training with sensei I probably would have gasped, cried, fainted, or some other cliché teen girl reaction but instead I sat there and kept my stone face on not letting the panic that was slowly rising within me show on my face and forcing myself to take in all the information that I was getting.

It was a message to me and my family.

It was burned into the hillside of Wilson County's largest hill just in case they thought we might miss it.

"it is unknown who the " Carson Family" is at the moment and what this message means." The clueless reporter gave commentary for the picture.

Even with the horrible situation I was in I wanted to laugh at the stupidity of the reporter. It was literally emblazed on the side of the hill "Dear Carson's this will be the last generation."

My mind was frantically going over what my mom went back to what Danni-mom had told me this morning. My mind was frantically scrambling to figure out what they already knew and who these people where but as far as I remembered we were assassins. If we were as good as we were supposed to be the only people that know about us should be our boss or dead. This was wrong and I mean more wrong than the fact that we were born killers which is saying something. Even though we were born to be assassins, no one else in the city knows that so why broadcast our name? Even the stupid reporter had no clue who we were. Why was this happening now? Does this have something to do with why mom finally brought us out of the dark? Then it hit me. They know we live in Wilson County but they don't know where in Wilson County....but that attack at school today? How did they-

"Lexi!"

I jerked my head up at Adam with a scowl but his concerned look softened my features though not by much.

"What?!" I snapped angry at him for causing me to lose my train of thought.

He let out a sigh of relief and ran a hand through his already messy hair "Thank God. I thought you were going into shock." He explained

What? Shock? Why would he? Jace answered my silent question," You kind of zoned out a bit there Lex. We've been calling your name for about 5 minutes. What was that?"

Oh. "Sorry guys, I'm just trying to process this. Jace will you get me phonebook."

"You and your family are the only Carson's in town." Adam supplied

I gave him a weird look to which he just cleared his throat and looked away dismissively. "Anyway," Jace says awkwardly," Do you know what this is about?"

I shook my head know which was for the most part true. I was more than certain that it was connected with what My mom told me and Ash this morning and the attack today though if it is them they need to get some better ninja's. I pulled out my phone and called my brother. While it was ringing I stood and moved to leave the room but Adam blocked me. I glared up at him and he just stood there with a frown and crossed his arms looking down his nose at me. I rolled my eyes and roughly shoved him aside making him stumble against one of the strange pictures that covered the room.

"If you're as smart as you're supposed to be you'll stay here and stay out of my way!" I hisses over my shoulder not noticing that Ash had already picked up.

I turned my attention back to the phone when I heard his low whistle ignoring the look of surprise on both his and Jace's face.

"Who pissed you off?"

I stalked out of the room with the phone tight to my ear brushing past their mom, who was coming up with cookies, and went down the stairs that led to the door from the house.

"Turn on the news." I ordered my voice tight and clipped.

I'm not sure if it was my voice but I got no rebuttal and heard him move around on his end. By the time I heard the TV go on I was outside climbing on my bike. I heard his breath catch but before I addressed what I knew he was seeing a thought hit me. I got off the bike and ran my hands over the familiar gears. I went to that back and felt around for...well I don't exactly know what but something that didn't belong. If the ninja was at my school then they may have put a tracker or something on my bike though I haven't the faintest what they looked like. Finding nothing I turned my attention back to the phone against my ear and heard him talking to someone; probably mom.

"Wait, we are the only original family left in the organization?" I heard him ask someone

"Anison!" I yelled into the phone to get his attention.

I heard him grunt in response

" I'm on my way home can you her to wait until I get there to finish explaining what's going on."

I got no sound and rolled my eyes.

"I know you're upset but I can't see it when you nod use you words and sensei's calming techniques."

"Yeah yeah, just hurry and be careful Alexis." He stressed.

Normally I would have shot a playful whatever back but I knew he was really worried.

"I will bro. bye." I responded solemnly. I shoved the phone in my pocket and jumped on my bike.

I sped off toward home just as Jace and Adam ran outside. I didn't glance back or stop even as I heard them yelling and cursing behind me. I was looking forward to getting answers and putting this problem to rest. I just got my family back and if whoever this was fucked that up I'd be seriously pissed.
