The next few days all went by the same way. Wake up, train with Edward, eat lunch, train a bit more, take a break, eat dinner, Edward goes to sleep and I stay up and climb the mast. The process repeated the next morning.

By the time we reached Great Inagua I was able to beat Edward in a sword battle with one sword in my right hand, one sword in my left hand, or a sword in both hands, almost every time. I was also able to climb to the top of the mast and dive into the water.

Now, I wandered the streets waiting for Edward to be ready for training.

A shadow flickered on the ground next to me. I glanced at it before looking up at the house. Edward was perched on the roof looking down at me.

"Hello Edward!" I called to him. "I was starting to think I'd never see you again."

"That isn't likely lass," he said. "This is the next part of your training. Climb up here."

It's a good thing I practiced on the Jackdaw. I wouldn't be able to otherwise, I thought to myself as I circled the building. It was taller than most of the houses, meaning it must be important.

I reached the back of the building and found a table with a lever and a long rope that had a loop on the bottom. I looked up and saw a large box hanging up against the wall. I wonder... I put one foot in the loop and stomped on the lever with the other, holding the rope with both hands.

I was yanked upward, reaching the top in seconds. I quickly pulled my foot out of the loop and let go of the rope, jumping onto the roof. Edward was still sitting facing the street.

I smirked. "Anything harder for me to do?"

Edward didn't turn around. "I was wondering if you'd find the rope," he said, pushing himself up. He turned toward me. "Since you have a knack for your hidden blades, I have a mission for you to help me with." He held out a tight roll of paper.

I took it and unrolled it.

British Commander George Marron

1500 reales

For being a British commander and trying to

attack my brother's home.

"What is this for?" I asked, rolling it up again and handing it to Edward.

"It's an assassination contract," he explained, slipping the paper into his belt. "There's an assassin owned pigeon coop close to my home. James sends me one from time to time. I thought this one would be a good start for you."

"What are we waiting for then?" I was excited and a little nervous about my first mission. I hadn't even been an assassin for a month and I already had something to do.

"Follow as best you can," Edward said. "I know exactly where he is."

Edward started leaping from roof to roof. I did my best to follow him, but I was a fair amount slower than him. He only slowed down when we reached the edge of the houses. He jumped off the last one, rolling when he hit the ground. I knew why he'd rolled, but it didn't look that high. I jumped off and crouched instead of rolling, bouncing to my feet and jogging to where Edward stood.

   "Didn't that hurt?" he asked.

I frowned. "No, why would it hurt? It wasn't that high."
