11 (Max pov)

"You cannot have my daughter. You twisted psycho."

"That's your only other option, Max."

This is Dylan. When he says something he means it. I know him well enough to know that.

I don't want to do this. I have to. To save Allie. To finally be a good mother.

I've had this feeling before, of needing to put someone else's life before my own, it's like how it was with the flock.

Though, somehow this is different, it feels different.

"Just," I sigh, loud, "show me Alouette first."

"'First? Does that mean you'll be mine?"

"Yes." I mumble. The thought of being "his" makes my skin crawl.

"This way m' lady." His arm is out as if expecting me to take it. No thank you.

"No? Alright. Just follow me then."

This place is a maze. No, literally a maze.

One where Dylan doesn't even know where's he's going. We got lost six times. Hit a dead end seven times.

"Almost there."

As we get closer Dylan begins flying. That's odd.

"Here we are."

The door to her room looks extremely complicated.

Plan A, for when its open, grab Allie, use hidden knife to hopefully kill Dylan, fly above the maze, and out to safety.

Very risky plan. I know. But it has to work.

He enters a 12 digit pass code. 07-18-23-4-12-67. Remember that.

Turns the wheel seven times. Remember that.

Unlocks the first lock, than third, fourth and second. Remember that.

I hear a click and the door slowly reveals what's inside.

Nothing.

She's not in there.

"Where is she, you lying bastard!?"

"Whoops, must have taken a wrong turn somewhere, sorry." He isn't sorry. He knew we weren't at Allie's room.

"I know what you're thinking. I knew this wasn't the right room, and you're right. I had to make sure you were going to come with me and when I opened the door you weren't going to rush in and out. You didn't.

"We'll go to her room now."

A few more turns, dead ends and we reach another door.

New locks.

Four times.

Lock one, four, two, three.

The door creaks open. To once again reveal nothing.

Even Dylan looks surprised at this.

"Alli-" my vision goes dark and I'm on the floor.
