There they are, the light footsteps again.

Ella's footsteps.

Three steps from the door. Two. One.

Breath in slowly. This is what Max would do. Don't be scared.

I'm not scared

It's open.

Now. I swing and before I can stop myself I see it's not Ella.

It's Max.

No. No. No. I just hit my mom in the head with a metal pipe. I'm so getting grounded for this.

She's on the ground what did I do?

Falcon appears out of no where screaming. Where did he come from?

No time for that. He's yelling at me. Like I meant to do this. I thought it was Ella. I can't explain that to him just yet though.

Later.

Uncontrollable tears stream down my cheeks. I'm so sorry mom.

We have to get out of here though.

"Who the hell do you think you are?" Falcon shouts at Dylan, who also, I have no idea why he's there.

I thought he was dead. No, he was dead.

I'm so over people coming back to life.

He was just standing there smiling. Almost laughing. Tormenting us.

"This is better than I could've imagined. Now all I need is Fang dead."

My brother and I exchange a look that we both know this dude is insane, and we have to do something.

If I really know Falcon then we are both on the same page.

Fight or flight is the question.

Flight. I grab Max's legs and Falcon has the rest of her body.

When we were littler dad taught us a game where we have to make our wings fly in sync when flying close together, now is when that comes in handy.

Always start with down flap, while he starts with up. Up down. Up down.

As fast as possible we escape.

Not once did we look behind us to see if Dylan was tailing us. We were too worried about mom.

I could see the houses, we were so close.

The whole flock was waiting. Dad included. I have no idea if they gave up looking, as Falcon told me they were, or knew I was found.

Either way they were relieved to see me and terrified to see Max.

This is all my fault.
