As I paced back and forth in the living room, I kept glancing at the clock on the wall. It was almost nine at night, and Tyler hasn't come home yet. The only sounds breaking through my worried thoughts were coming from the TV. I had turned on the news just in case, and half past nine, I found out I had made the right decision.
"This evening another local boy was hit by a drunk driver at the exact same intersection. Twenty-three year old Tyler Joseph was t-boned at the same intersection twenty-two year old Josh Dun was killed at three weeks ago. Mr. Joseph was taken to the hospital, and there has been no word on his current condition."
The lady started to go on about precautionary measures police were going to start taking, but I tuned her out.
All I could think about was Tyler; my little bean.
Is he still alive?
How badly is he hurt?
I stopped my pacing and sat on the coffee table. Holding my head in my hands, I tugged at my hair as tears fell down my cheeks and let out a loud scream of frustration. I just want my Baby Boy to be alright...
Brendon's POV
While cuddling on the couch, Sarah and I were watching Donnie Darko. This movie always made me think of Tyler since it's his favorite. We should have him over for dinner soon; I get worried about him being alone so often.
My iPhone started to ring, so I untangled myself from Sarah, who was starting to doze off, and looked at the screen. Kelly Joseph? Why was Tyler's mom calling me? I answered the call.
"Hello?"
"Brendon, dear, Tyler is in the hospital. He was in a car accident. He got hit by a drunk driver. Tyler is still alive, but he's in pretty rough shape. I thought you'd like to know..."
Kelly's voice was hoarse and I could tell she had been or was still crying. I don't blame her one bit.
"Oh, um ok. I'm on my way right now, what room is he in? Can we see him yet?" I stood off the couch and went into the bedroom to pull on a pair of jeans and a pair of shoes.
"Just come in the ICU waiting area, we can't see him yet, they're still working on him," Kelly sniffed.
"Ok, I'm on my way. I'll see you soon. Thank you for calling me." I ended the call and shoved the phone in my pocket before heading back into the living room.
"What's going on babe?" Sarah asked, rubbing sleep out of her eyes.
"Tyler was in a pretty bad car wreck. I'm going to go sit with his parents. I don't know when I'll be back." Sarah gasped and put a hand over her mouth.
"Oh my God, really? Do you want me to come with you?"
"No, it's ok. You have work in the morning babe, and you're already half asleep. I'll see you tomorrow, yeah?"
"Ok, I love you. Give the Josephs my best."
"Love you too."
I gave her a quick peck on the lips before grabbing my jacket and getting in my car. I tried listening to the radio, but found it only irritated me instead of soothing my nerves, so I shut it off.
