My Little Nightmare Before Christmas

Chapter 1

Twas a long time ago, longer now than it seems, in a place that perhaps you've seen in your dreams. For the story that you are about to be told, took place in the holiday worlds of old. Now, you've probably wondered where holidays in Equestria come from. If you haven't, I'd say it's time you've begun. In the town called Nightmare Night Town that looks like Ponyville, only covered with Nightmare Night decorations, the Halloween creatures that look like ponies were celebrating the holiday by scaring each other, having a carnival, and offering candy to Nightmare Moon. But the main event was a parade, led by a skeleton unicorn pony named Dusk Shine who is the prince of Nightmare Night, and is wearing a scarecrow costume. He took a torch from one of the creature ponies, and swallowed his, making the scarecrow costume burn. He dove into a well, slowly rose from the water revealing his black and white suit, and stuck a pose. The creature ponies clapped their hooves, and cheered. "It's over!" A clown earth pony named Junebug said. "We did it!" A behemoth earth pony named Big Macintosh or Big Mac for short as he and Junebug did a brohoof together.

"Wasn't it terrifying?" A werewolf unicorn pony named Fancy Pants asked. "What a night!" A unicorn that looks like Mr. Hyde named Lyra Heartstrings and a cyclops earth pony named Bon Bon said at the same time. "Great Nightmare Night, everypony!" An earth pony who can turn her head from happy to sad at anytime named Mayor Mare said as Dusk Shine stepped off of the well, and said "I believe it was out most horrible yet! Thank you, everypony!" "No, thanks to you, Dusk Shine." Mayor Mare said. "Without your brilliant leadership-." "Not at all, Mayor." Dusk Shine said making Mayor Mare stop talking. "You're such a scream, Dusk Shine." A vampire fruit bat unicorn pony named Claude said. "You're a witch pony's fondest dream!" A uincorn pony witch named Sassy Saddles said. An earth pony witch named Countess Coloratura hugged Dusk Shine's leg, and said "You made walls fall, Dusk Shine." "Walls fall?" Sassy Saddles asked. "You made the very mountains crack, Dusk Shine." A unicorn rag doll pony named Twilight Sparkle who is a female counterpart of Dusk Shine smile, and tried to get closer, but a unicorn scientist named Abacus Cinch who made Twilight Sparkle grabbed her by her hoove with her magic, and said "The deadly nightshade you slipped me wore off, Twilight Sparkle."

As she tried to pull away, Twilight Sparkle said "Let go!" "You're not ready for so much excitement!" Abacus Cinch said. "Yes I am!" Twilight Sparkle said. As Abacus Cinch tried to take her creation back to her lab, she said "You're coming with me!" "No I'm not!" Twilight Sparkle said as she pulled out the thread that's holding her hoof, and ran off as her creator fell to the floor. "Come back here, you foolish mare!" Abacus Cinch said. Twilight Sparkle's hoof then started hitting her in the head. The Halloween creature ponies advanced towards Dusk Shine as an earth pony that looked like a creature from the black lagoon named Cherry Jubliee said "Ooo Dusk Shine, you make wounds ooze and flesh crawl." As Dusk Shine back away from the adoring crowd he said "Thank you, thank you, thank you very much." "Hold it! We haven't given out the prizes yet!" Mayor Mare said catching the crowd's attention, and giving Dusk Shine enough time to get away from them. "Our first award gors to the vampire fruit bat ponies for the most blood drained in a single evening." Claude, and the vampire fruit bat unicorn ponies named Trenderhoof and Jet Set took the trophy as Mayor mare said "Our second and honorable mention goes to Cherry Jubliee. When Dusk Shine got away from the crowd, he sighed sadly, and walked off, giving a bit to a zombified band playing music as he passed by.

"Nice work, bone daddy." The sax playing earth pony named Dr. Whooves said. "Yeah, I guess so." Dusk Shine said sadly. "Just like last year. And the year before that, and the year before that." At the graveyard near the Everfree Forest, Twilight Sparkle was stuffing her missing hoof with leaves nearby. She gasped and hid behind a gravestone when she heard a noise. She peeked to see Dusk Shine walking through the gate, and smiled. Dusk Shine walked to a dog, and whistled as he said "Come on out, Winona." Winona the ghost dog popped out of her grave, and followed Dusk Shine who walked to a spiral hill, and sat at the top. He sighed, and said "There are few who would deny at what I do best for my talents are renowned far and wide when I frighten ponies. But year after year, it's the same old thing, and I'm so sick of it!" He stood up, and started walking when the spiral formed a staircase for him with Winona following him as he said "There's gotta be more that's out there that will fill my empty heart because the fame and praise that come year after year does nothing for these empty tears that I'm shedding. Dusk Shine and Winona walked into the Everfree Forest, unaware of Twilight Sparkle who was watching him as she said "Dusk Shine, I know how you feel."
