My Little Nightmare Before Christmas

Chapter 3

Dusk Shine screamed as he fell down past a swirl of snowflakes. He then landed on a pile of snow, and spun around a couple of times. After her recovered, he looked down below him, and gasped in awe. The town below called Hearth's Warming Eve Town looked a lot like Ponyville, only covered with Hearth's Warming Eve decorations, and snow. His hoof suddenly sank into the snow, and he quickly lift it up. He picked up the snow he stepped in with his magic, and took a bite of it. As he tried to get a better look of Hearth's Warming Eve Town, he suddenly slid down, and crashed into another pile of snow. He recovered, and said "Oh my gosh! What is all this?!" He looked around as he said "Colorful things everywhere, foals throwing snowball at each other, toys being built, frost on windows?! I don't know what this warm feeling is, but I like it!" He then looked through an open window to see a pony couple hanging a mistletoe, and giving each other a kiss as he said "Oh, wow! They're hanging mistletoe, and they kiss! That looks so unique!" He looked at a family of ponies listening to a story while roasting chestnuts on a fire, and he said "Oh my gosh! They are gathered to hear a story, and roast chestnuts over a fire!" He looked closer to see two ponies decorating a tree, and turning the lights around the tree on as he said "Oh, my! They got a tree, and covering it with decorations, and there is a smile on everypony! Could it be that I got my wish?!"

He teleported himself to a bedroom to see fillies and colts sleeping in their beds with his magic, and he whispered out "Wow! The foals are asleep with nothing underneath the beds." He teleported himself outside with his magic, and he said "The monsters are missing, and the nightmares cannot be found! Instead of screams, I hear music in the air, and the smell of cakes and pies are everywhere!" As he ran, he said "Oh, wow! This empty feeling is filling me up! I've got to know what is this place I have found! What is this place?!" He bumped his head against the sign's pole as he said "Ouch!" He rubbed his head to sooth the pain, looked up at the sign, and said "Hearth's Warming Eve Town? Hmmmm." He gasped when he heard a loud noise, and hid behind the sign's pole. He took a peek, and saw an alicorn's shadow. He raised an eyebrow as he said "Hmm."

-Meanwhile at Nightmare Night Town-

The ponies were beginning to worry as Junebug said "This has never happened before!" "It's suspicious!" Countess Coloratura said. "It's peculiar!" Sassy Saddles said. "It's scary!" Claude, Trenderhoof, and Jet Set said at the same time. Mayor Mare pushed Fancy Pants as she said "Stand aside! Coming through!" Fancy Pants glared and growled at her. Mayor Mare grabbed a megaphone, and said "We've got to find Dusk Shine! There's only 365 left till next Nightmare Night!" "364!" Fancy Pants said. "Is there anywhere we've forgotten to check?" Mayor Mare asked. "I looked in every mausoleum." Junebug said. "We opened the sarcophagi!" Sassy Saddles and Countess Coloratura said at the same time. Lyra Heartstrings approached the group with a squished pumpkin in her hoof, and said "I tromped through the pumpkin patch." "I peeked behind Bon Bon's eye!" Claude said. "I did! But he wasn't there." "It's time to sound the alarms!" Mayor Mare said as she turned on the alarm that sounded like a cat screeching. In Abacus Cinch's lab, Twilight Sparkle was making soup for her creator. She put some deadly nightshade herbs into the soup, and nearly choked on the smell. She got out a jar of Frog's breath from the cupboard, and said "Frog's breath will overpower any odor." She puts some into the soup, and she couched, and choked from the smell as she said "Bitter!" As she looked through the cupboard, she said "Worm's wart. Wh-Where's that worm's wart?!" She found it, and placed it into the soup. "Twilight?!" Abacus Cinch said from another room. "Is that soup ready yet?"

Twilight Sparkle let out a sigh of relief, and said "Coming!" In the other room, Abacus Cinch was doing some research when Twilight Sparkle came in with some soup in a big bowl, and said "Lunch!" As she placed the soup on the table, Abacus Cinch said "Ah, what's that?" She sniffed the soup, and said "Worm's wart, mmm, and Frog's breath?" "What's wrong?" Twilight Sparkle asked. "I-I thought you liked Frog's breath." "Nothing's more suspicious than Frog's breath." Abacus Cinch said. "Until you taste it, I won't swallow a spoonful." She scooped up some soup with the spoon, and gave it to Twilight Sparkle, who swatted it away, and said "I'm not hungry. Oops!" Abacus Cinch glared at her, and said "You want me to starve. An old unicorn mare like me who hardly has enough strength as it is. Me, to whom you owe your very life." "Oh, don't be silly." Twilight Sparkle said as she kicked the spoon away, and took out another spoon with holes in it. She scooped the soup as it leaked into the bowl. She pretended to taste the soup, and she said "Mmmm, see? Scrumptious." Abacus Cinch smiled, and began to eat the soup.
