My Little Nightmare Before Christmas

Chapter 5

Later that night at Dusk Shine's house, Dusk Shine was sitting in front of the fireplace, and reading many books about the tales of Hearth's Warming Eve while Winona was sleeping in her bed with a candy cane in her mouth. The room was decorated with Christmas lights, and also had a decorated Christmas Tree nearby Winona's bed. "There's got to be a logical way to explain this Hearth's Warming Eve thing." Dusk Shine said. He then had an idea, and got out the book of science as he began to study it. The next morning at Abacus Cinch's house, Abacus Cinch began to lock Twilight Sparkle in her room as she said "You've poisoned me for the last time, you wretched pony!" The door closed, and the lock was sealed. Suddenly, the doorbell rang, and Abacus Cinch groaned in pain from the massive headache she had as she said "Oh, my head!" She looked down on the first floor, and said "The door is open!" Dusk Shine then entered as he said "Hello!" "Dusk Shine!" Abacus Cinch said. "Up here, young stallion." Twilight Sparkle heard Abacus Cinch talking to Dusk Shine, so she pressed her ear on the door to listen. "Abacus Cinch, I need to borrow some equipment." "Is that so?" Abacus Cinch asked. "Whatever for?"

"I'm conducting a series of experiments." Dusk Shine said. "How perfectly marvelous." Abacus Cinch said. "Curiosity killed the cat, you know." "I know." Dusk Shine said. "Come on into the lab, and we'll get you all fixed up." Abacus Cinch said as they went into the lab. "Hmm." Twilight Sparkle said. "Experiments?" After he got what he needed, Dusk Shine returned to his home, and went up the stairs inside the house as he said "Winona, I'm home!" He put the bag on his desk, and took out all of the equipment. He then took out a microscope, and took out a red piece of the mistletoe with a pair of tweezers. He placed the red piece on the microscope, and began to examine it. He zoomed in too far, and broke the piece in half. He then used a large battery box, and a large cylinder filled with water to examine a candy cane. He placed the candy cane inside the water-filled cylinder, and red and white smoke came out of it. When he took it out, it looked like a white string. Then, he tried to make a paper snowflake like the picture of a snowflake he had with him, but he made it look like a spider's web with a spider in the middle, much to his confusion. Then, he ripped out the stuffing of a teddy bear, and used a magnifying glass to examine a piece of the stuffing.

He then took an ornament from his Christmas tree, crushed it with his magic, and placed the pieces in a larged measuring cup filled with boiling water over a small fire. When the water started glowing, he said "Interesting reaction, but what does it mean?" In Twilight Sparkle's room, Twilight Sparkle was making a potion for Dusk Shine. When she was done, she put the bottle into the basket full of stuff. She then opened her window, and lowered the basket to the floor. She looked out at Dusk Shine's house, smiled, and jumped out. When she crash-landed on the floor, she sewed herself back together, picked up her basket, and walked on the path to Dusk Shine's house as she went past Dr. Whooves, Vinyl Scratch, and Octavia Melody. Abacus Cinch opened the door to Twilight Sparkle's room as she said "You can come out now if you promised to behave." She loooked around as she said "Twilight? Twilight?" She growled in anger as she said "Oooh! Gone again!" Moments later, Twilight Sparkle arrived at Dusk Shine's house, and used a rope to lift the basket to the room where Dusk Shine was writing the equations for Hearth's Warming Eve. The basket tapped on the window, and Dusk Shine opened it, and looked down to see Twilight Sparkle who waved at him. Dusk Shine waved back, took the basket, and placed it on the desk.

He opened the bottle, and a smoke-shaped butterfly floated out. He smiled, and looked down to see Twilight Sparkle, only to find that she took off. He shrugged, and closed the door. Twilight Sparkle hid behind the gate, and sat down. She started picking the petals on a flower, and it suddenly turned into a Christmas Tree as she smiled. Suddenly, it went up in flames as she gasped in horror when she realized that she had a vison of Dusk Shine's plans that will end with disastrous results.
