"I'M DONE."
Sighing in relief, I slapped the wet cloth onto the table and peeked around the empty kitchen. Washing dishes was such a dull chore.
I wiped my hands against my sweatpants as I mounted up the stairs, pushing past my father and arriving at my room. In all honesty, I felt rather bored. I've been hanging out with Blaze for these past few days, along with Winston too.
Much to my profound satisfaction, Winston and I were growing close -- closer than I anticipated. Now that I ponder back on this, it wasn't that hard to lure him in.
As for Jade, she and I were still not on speaking terms. I didn't bother attempting to mend matters, because I wasn't at fault here.
Kaedon, on the other hand, was currently on a date with the one and only Maria -- the girl he's been crushing on since forever. In a way, I was happy for him.
I tossed my phone from hand to hand, contemplating fixing things with Jade. Truth be told, I missed her company. Deciding I'd do it, I dialled her phone number and placed my phone in-between my shoulder and head.
It was a few moments afterward when a familiar voice sounded throughout the phone. "What?"
I couldn't help but give out an insolent scoff. "You haven't been speaking to me these past few days and that's all I get?"
"What do you want?" Jade sighed.
"I..." I mumbled. "I wanted to apologise."
"Apologise?" Jade restated, a hint of bewilderment lacing her tone.
"Yeah," I replied, sinking my teeth into my lower lip. "I miss you, Jade."
"I miss you too," she murmured. "Does this mean you've given up on the bet?"
My shoulders slouched at the hopeful tone of voice she used. "Uh...yes," I lied.
"And?"
"And I realised I'm going to continue being friends with Blaze," I rushed. Shit, shit, shit. What am I doing?
"That's great!" Jade exclaimed. "I'm so glad you've given up on the bet. Poor boy."
"Yeah, I realised he doesn't deserve this," I concurred. Oh my God.
Jade offered a soft laugh at that. "Yup, I don't even know what went through my mind when I proposed that idea," she confessed. "Anyway, you're forgiven."
