REMEMBERING SUNDAY – ALL TIME LOW.▂ ▂ ▂ ▂
"AND THEN WHAT HAPPENED?"
Jade's face represented a countenance consisting of nostalgia, wistfulness, and pure infatuation. She was by all means enamoured of him. "He apologised," she restated, sighing in pure bliss.
I almost rolled my eyes. Only as I pushed the strong urge away, I cupped my chin with my hands and blew a strand of my brown hair away from my face. "Then?" I urged, leaning in.
"He says he wants to...start over, I guess," Jade said, one corner of her lip curving upward.
I absentmindedly took a sip of my strawberry milkshake. "And you're going to agree?" I furthered, a little too incredulous at the mere thought.
"I...I don't know," she admitted in a small voice, lifting one shoulder.
"I mean, you've been pining over him for so long..." I answered, moving my straw around.
"Yeah, but at the moment I'm not ready for a relationship," she informed me, sitting up straighter and tapping her manicured fingers against the table. Her eyes darted across the restaurant as she curled her fingers around her drink and brought the straw to her lips.
"I know you aren't," I said, pushing my drink away. "But you should consider being friends with him."
"I can't possibly continue being friends with him when I'm in love with him," she responded, sighing.
Right. Love. Such a misleading concept, really. "Okay then..." I mumbled, acting upon the desire to roll my eyes.
"So, how's Blaze?" Jade wriggled her eyebrows a little too suggestively for my liking.
An unadulterated feeling of discomfort surged within me in the form of ripples. Avoiding her intense gaze, I glanced around, clearing my throat. "Uh, good," I said, even though I hadn't seen him for two days.
"Anything new?" she continued, oblivious to my rapid change of queer behaviour.
"Nope," I murmured, licking my lips.
"Are you going to invite him to your birthday party?" she questioned, her forehead creasing.
Oh, right. The one that was supposedly in five days.
The thing that upset me the most was that Blaze and I were still not dating. I wanted -- no, I needed to get rid of him.
And fast.
Before the either of us gain feelings.
"I don't know if he'll come or not," I eventually responded.
