"Are you sure you want to do this?" I stared long and hard at the file paper and sighed.
"No." I muttered, ripping the divorce papers for a third time. I couldn't do it. I just couldn't.
"I understand this is a tough decision for you Sophia, but you can't keep calling me about getting these divorce papers only to bail at the last second. I have several other clients and I can't keep doing these meaningless visits." Stephanie, my lawyer stated, annoyance clear on her face.
"I apologise for that Stephanie, sorry for wasting your time." I slapped a hand over my forehead as I closed the door behind her.
Stupid, stupid.
"Let me guess, you didn't sign it?" Cassandra asked, a knowing look on her face.
"I don't even know what I'm doing anymore Cassandra, I'm so confused. There's just so much bad history and it's not easy to just sweep that kind of mess under the carpet." I rubbed my eyes and fell to the couch in a heap, I've been so tired lately and I can't even remember the last time I spoke to Demetrius since that near kiss.
"Hey Soph, not to further worry you or anything, but didn't you and Demetrius have the same lawyer? Since you have a new one doesn't that mean Demetrius was informed of your departure?" I looked up at Cassandra indifferent.
"Why would that matter?"
Cassandra abruptly thumped my head. "Of course it matters, as soon as he finds out, he will come storming in here, demanding to know what's going on."
I sat up, my mind immediately racing to the reign of terror Demetrius will ensue if he found out I was looking at divorce papers. He will burn every one he can find.
I heard Cassandra snicker behind me and glared at her. "What? It's funny if you think about it."
I didn't laugh.

"I thought we were taking a break!"
"Oh come on, I think we're way past a break!"
"We might not have been at this stage if you had at least let me within 2 feet of you!"
We both sighed simultaneously, this screaming match was getting us nowhere.
I took a deep breath in and spoke first. "Yes, I did consider a divorce, but I'm still unsure. I didn't sign anything if that's what you thought."
He stood up from his seated position and moved closer towards me. "Come on Sophia, you know how much I still love you. I'm trying here."
I took a quick glance at his fresh appearance and clean shaven face, he must have just come back from work. "I know, but it's not so easy to just forget everything, all the lies and hell we've been through. It's hard."
I didn't react as Demetrius suddenly entwined his fingers with mine. "Let me try, give me a chance to show you how much I love you, we could begin again."
I stared up at his determined expression and so many thoughts ran through my head. Could a relationship like ours really start over? Or is it just wishful thinking?
It was a leap of faith I was taking, I just hope it wasn't a mistake. "We can try."
Demetrius smiled widely. "It's a date."

I rummaged through my bag, searching for my matte red lipstick, it was my date with Demetrius. I wiped my clammy hands with tissue and stared at the mirror. It felt like we had never met before and this was our first date, whereas the reality is we've known each other for over three years. Then why was I so nervous?
