Dear Corinne,
Collin asked me to go to Patsy's with him after school to celebrate me getting a part in the school play. It was fun. I don't have trouble talking to him, and I ate an entire frozen yogurt. Then he walked me home and before we went inside he said: you're really beautiful.
I just stood there like a potato, trying to figure out what to say. I met his gaze then looked down, and my bottom lip was wobbling for some reason.
Collin: do you want to go out with me?
I couldn't make my lips say yes, so I nodded and he scooped me into a hug. His hugs are reassuring- I feel safe in his arms, like if I fell he would hold me up. And then it started to snow, gently and sticking to the shivering blades of grass. So we sat on the front porch and watched it, hardly speaking and soaking up each others' warmth.
Oh Mother Nature. Sometimes you have the best timing.
Love,
Leigh
