My first thought: am I dead?

Every fibre of my body was overwhelmed. The walls were dull and white. Practically the whole room was white. It was almost blinding.

My second thought: Theo Raeken.

Flashbacks of the woods and all the chimera's rising from the dead invaded my mind; Lydia's state after what Theo had done to her. I could remember everything up until when I sat on the ground crying, my back pressed against a rough tree. After that, the memories were dark. They seemed jumbled, like something was missing.

I started to pull myself up into a sitting position, only to have a hand on my shoulder stopping me. "Kara?"
I glanced up into the familiar bright blue eyes, filled with concern and confusion.

I breathed out, "Liam."

He seemed to forget himself, throwing his arms tightly around me - almost suffocating me. "You're okay?"

He moved away and I sat up straighter, frowning at him. "I'm fine, what happened?"

Liam's eyebrows drew together and a bemused expression crossed his innocent face. "You don't remember anything?"

"I remember Theo Raeken bringing those damn Chimera's back to life. Where is that son of a-" I cut off, remembering my strawberry-blond haired friend. "Lydia," I blurted. "Is she okay?"

"She's in um, she's in Eichen House," Liam replied, looking at me strangely. "Kara, Parrish found you and Lydia in the woods. You were both really hurt, practically hyperthermic."

"Dammit, how long have I been out for?"

"Almost a week," he replied as he stepped forwards, lifting my arm up and examining it.

"What are you doing?"

"I don't understand," he mumbled, eyes narrowing at me. I swallowed thickly, the look in his eyes making me nervous. In fact, all I could feel at that moment was anxiety.

"Liam, what's going on?" I asked, causing him to step back, shaking his head.

"I'm gonna get Scott. I'll be right back. I promise." Before I could reply and ask him why, he'd already left the room.

I let out a long sigh, swinging my legs over the side of the tough hospital bed. I looked down, noticing the needle in my hand, which was attached to a drip. Wincing, I pulled the needle out of my hand and shifted down, planting my feet on the floor. I expected to be in some kind of pain, but I felt fine as I headed to the bathroom. I absolutely dreaded looking in the mirror, I'm sure I looked a mess. I slowly looked up, meeting my reflection. My hair was still straight, a little bit messy from where I'd been lay down. I placed my hands on the sink, leaning forwards. The way Liam had said it, I expected to have some noticeable injuries on my face; like cuts and bruises. But my skin was still as clear and pale as usual. The only noticeable difference was my cheekbones looking more defined and my face slightly thinner, probably from the lack of food. I moved backwards, taking in my whole appearance. It was hard to see with the baggy, ugly hospital gown on. I didn't appear to be hurt at all.

"Kara!" Two male voices rang out and I instantly knew it was Scott and Liam. I rushed out of the bathroom again and when they caught sight of me, they both paused.

"Hey," I said awkwardly, wary of the way their eyes were both scanning over me. "Something wrong?"

"I told you," I heard Liam mutter to Scott. The two of them stared at me for a little longer before Scott sighed.

"Um, so Liam told me you don't remember anything. Is that true?"

"The last thing I remember were the Chimera's legitimately rising from the dead." Scott and my younger brother shared a brief look for a moment, making me raise my eyebrows. "Would somebody like to explain what the hell is going on?"

"Nothing," Scott said quickly. "Everything's fine," he pulled Liam away to the side, mumbling something. It was difficult to make out at first but I soon heard it. "Keep her here. I'm going to talk to Theo and find out what they did."

This took so long to write I'm not even kidding. I have a feeling this half of the story is going to be really difficult to actually write in general so you're gonna have to bear with me for updates. I hope this didn't suck too much, I tried.
