"Can I get you to sign this paper, please?"
"Um yeah. I guess" I had been in the back for over an hour but it felt like eternity. I had signed so many papers that I no longer cared what they said. I blankly added my signature to the contract and slid it across the table to the nurse who's name I learned was Stacey.
"Thank you. Well that was the last one. Are you ready to go lay down?" Stacey looked at me with kind eyes.
"That would be nice. Thank you" I said standing up and pushing my chair in.
Stacey lead me to my room and handed me a blanket. She showed herself out as I curled into a ball on my bed. My thoughts quickly began to consume me.
What have I done? I was just fine how I was before. Invisible and alone. There was no need for me to be friendly with Parker. If I had never talked to him everything would be okay. Everything would have been over. I don't need anyone. No one needs me. If only Parker didn't find me. I would be gone. The pain would be gone. I would be happy.
