Reach up to the sky
And steal me a star
Swipe it from the navy expanse
Of silver fairies floating and spinning
Cup it in your tender hands
Stroke its fragile lucent wings
Let it dance before youAnd then
Let it go
For it does not belong here
Where its light is muffled
By our greedy hands
And where it's goodness is poisoned
By our mortal touchIt belongs with its radiant brethren
Illuminating the heavens
Freckling the universe with diamonds
And scattering crystals across
The cackling emptiness of SpaceSo on second thought
My love
Do not reach out
Keep your curious fingers at your sides
And do not be the selfish criminal
Who thieves away a gem from
The glorious treasure chest
Spilling into the inky domain above us
