A/N:
Picture of Chuck.
All of the kids from the school start to trickle in by the time Chuck's shift ends. I don't think I remember the last time I ever saw him in anything besides his evergreen T-shirt and black pants, but I like the change of scenery. His blue polo shirt hugs his torso in all of the right places, and his dark wash skinny jeans were doing his long legs just as much justice as his upper body. He shrugs on his leather jacket and opens up the door of the café.
"After you, Georgie Porgie," he says, grinning madly and on the verge of laughing.
"What's so funny?" His happiness is contagious, and I start to laugh. His shell finally cracks and he laughs too.
"I always thought I'd be the one asking you out on a date, but I guess you beat me to it. I didn't know little miss sunshine had it in her to ask me out. What's with the sudden boldness?"
Adam.
"No one was doing anything or making some sort of move, so I decided maybe I should hike up my skirt," I lie.
He nods. "I'm glad you did."

"Is this the part where you kill me and hide my body?" he asks.
"Aw man, I was this close to getting away with it," I laugh, bringing my thumb and index finger together to show how I nearly accomplished his "murder."
"Why are we here anyways? It's getting kinda dark, don't you think?"
I'm not afraid of the dark anymore... Because of Adam.
"It's better at night, more exhilarating. You'll be fine... Unless you're afraid."
Chuck scoffs and crosses arms over his chest. "I am not afraid of anything."
"Is that so? Then you wouldn't mind playing hide and seek in a forest while the sun is setting," I suggest.
The color in his face drains but returns just as fast as it left. "We wouldn't want you to get lost, now would we?"
"You are such a chicken!" He starts to turn back, and I hop around him squawking like a madman. "Ba-cock! Chuck is a chicken! Bawk-bawk-bacock!"
"Fine. But once I find you, we're leaving." His head leans into his forearm, and his forearm rests on the first tree he finds. As he starts to count, I run to my tree and start climbing. Adam is sitting there with earbuds in his ears.
I snatch one out, seeing that he hasn't noticed me yet. I gently place my finger on his lips to keep him quiet.
"Ready or not, here I come!" Chuck yells from his spot. I scramble up the tree next Adam.
"We're playing hide and seek," I explain.
"Who is that guy, Monkey?" he asks, worry lacing through his voice.
"That's Chuck. We're on a date. Now hush, I don't want him to find us."
"Some date," Adam whispers sarcastically. I roll my eyes.
"We've been friends since sixth grade, and he's never been here." Then there was silence, and the only thing we could hear was the forest and Chuck searching for me. "Alright, Georgie, you won. It's dark now and my phone is dead, so if you can kindly come from your hiding spot, we can go home and binge on Netflix and pizza," Chuck suggests. I almost laugh at how scared he sounds and start to climb down the tree. The sound makes Chuck jump, but before I get down I acknowledge Adam one more time.
