My First New Moon Festival

I stood in my bathroom, looking at my brick red hair in the mirror. It was the only thing about me that wasn't off. My hair was everything, and without it I would have crawled under a rock, waiting to die. Looking at the t shirt that clung tightly to my skin i sighed, throwing on a black hoodie. I was hoping that I wouldn't make to big of a scene tonight. Throwing on my skinny jeans and my converse, i huffed loudly, blowing some strands of haor out of my face. Then I heard a honk from downstairs and I rushed out the door to greet Rogue.

Rogue and I have been dating for the last three months. Well he thinks we are dating, I only went out with him for my friend Ruby. Luckily I have found the courage to break up with him tonight during the new moon festival. The new moon festival is a contest between the elementals. Any mage at, or over the age of 15 can participate in the games for money and prizes. Most only want one thing though, and that is to win the games and get a chance to leave the island.

Rouge greeted me by leaning in for a kiss. I pretended not to notice, and embraced him into a hug. He chuckled and opened up the passenger door, slapping my ass as I climbed into the car. I put on my seat belt, and we drove to the Fire red door at the south end of town. He parked in the parking area near the door, and climbed out. I opened my door and got out before he had a chance to make his way around the car. Then he threw his hand around my shoulder once I had made it around to the other side of the car. I sighed as he kept peppering kisses on my neck and shoudler as we waited in line.

Once to the front of the line, we fed our money through the machine, and entered through the door. My eyes lit up in wonder because even though im almost 17, i'd never been to the festival. My eyes darted every which way. Until they landed on my best friend, Ruby. I shouted her name, and when she saw me i could see the fire burning in her eyes. "Scarlet!!" she screamed at the top if her lungs before tackling me and Rouge to the ground... Well, almost. Rogue and Ruby hit the floor when i moved away from Rouge at the last second.

Me though, i fell too. Rouge's arms went out when he got hit by Ruby. Which clipped me and i went falling to the ground. I closed my eyes and braced for impact, but it never came. 'Am I dead?' I thought to myself before hearing a deep chuckle. Apparently i had said that out loud. Slowly i opened my eyes, and looked up at the most gorgeous boy i had ever seen. I almost didn't realize it until i broke eye contact with him.

He was a water mage, and it is forbidden for a fire and a water mage to be anything more than friends. I nervously giggled, as he slowly set me back on my feet. I looked around but Ruby and Rouge were no where to be seen. I looked back up at the water mage, and then he had a look of concern across his face. "Your eyes..." he trailed off and i knew exactly what he was talking about.

I grabbed his mouth to shut him up. "Just take me to a bathroom, and shut up. Ill explain later." i whisper yelled as i held my eyes shut. He grabbed hold of my wrist, and pulled me towards the girls bathroom. Once there, he nudged me in and i opened up my eyes, squinting them. Luckily only one contact had fallen out. See, part of the reason i say my hair is my life is because my eyes are a fiery purple. No fire mage has purple eyes except me as far as i know of. I quickly grabbed my spare set of contacts and slipped them in.

Afterwards i decided to look at my mage symbol too. All mages had their symbol on there right, outside leg. It was placed just a few inches above the heel. I applied a new layer of coloring on the tips of my fire. To cover up the purple, and keep it from showing as well.

I slowly walked out of the bathroom, and noticed the water mage leaning on the wall. He had his eyes closed, so i quietly exited the bathroom. I walked quickly but then jumped as i felt an arm on my shoulder. I whipped around to come face to face with the water mage. I could feel his laugh as it vibrated through his body.
