Imee made the short walk home alone. Patrick's protective presence had been comforting now she felt lonely without him by her side. How would she explain things to her mom? What would she say?

The familiar site of her family home was closing in and her mother was waiting for her outside.

Well here we go Imee breathed to herself.

"Imee!" Her mother yelled as soon as she was within eyesight. Her mother stood with her hands on both hips and a scowl on her face.

"Where have you been? Wasn't I clear about you two staying together? Lillis could have been hurt; you could have been hurt!" Olivette went on as she approached her daughter.

Imee opened her mouth to respond, but nothing would come out. So she closed her mouth and looked down at her feet.

"Speak up, girl." Her mother reached out and jerked her chin up, forcing her to look her in the eyes.

"Mother..." Imee choked out as a tear ran down her cheek.

"Imee?" Olivette said, feeling confused.

Imee sanked onto her knees and threw her arms around her mother's legs. Olivette stumbled slightly, but maintained her balance. She glanced down and slowly rubbed her daughter's head comfortingly. She didn't know what had happened, but she could tell something was wrong. Very wrong. She removed Imee's arms from around her gently and helped her to her feet.

"Come on," She whispered as she led her inside away from preying eyes.

"Imee?" Lillis called out as they passed by her.

"Not now, Lillis. Go prepare lunch please." Olivette directed. Lillis hurried off to do as she was told, but looked back just in time to see her mother closing her and Imee's bedroom door behind her.

"Imee, sweetie, what's wrong?" Olivette asked as she sat her down.

Imee didn't want to tell her mother about the horrible events that took place a little while ago, but she found herself doing just that. Her mother listened in horror as Imee filled her in on what happened. When Imee was done, more tears had drenched her face and she was an emotional mess. Feeling like a scared little girl again, she just wanted to be held by her mother.

"Oh, Imee," Olivette whispered as she held her daughter close to her chest.

"I am so sorry my little wolf; so very sorry. If it hadn't been for that strangers intervention, who knows what would have happened? Are you sure they were wolves?"

Imee nodded her head once.

"I have to tell your father, but I will say that I've heard it and it wasn't you, okay? Imee he will find out who did this. I know he will." Olivette promised.

"Yes mother," was all Imee could say.

"Rest and I will wake you later." Olivette urged as she tried to lay Imee back. Imee refused to let go of her mother.

"Please don't leave me," Imee begged. Olivette felt as if her heart was breaking as she listened to her daughter's desperate plea.

"Okay my child. Mommy is here, just relax." She said softly. Rubbing Imee's back, she rocked her a bit in hopes of calming her down. After a few moments, Olivette could feel her daughter relax and her eyelids had closed. Carefully, she removed her daughter's arms and laid her down. After covering her and kissing her forehead, Olivette left the room.

"Is Imee okay?" Lillis asked in a small voice.

"She's fine." Olivette said with a small smile. "Come along. Your brother and father will be home any minute. If they ask, Imee is sick, understood?"
