Epilogue (Five years later)
If anyone had told me that five years ago I would have gotten close to a cat. I would have said they were insane, but all that changed when I agreed to watch my ex’s cat Jude. After that my life changed, but for the better.
I think back to that day, the day I fell in love with a cat as weirdly as it sounds, but it’s true. Now it’s been a little over six year since we broke the curse that had kept Toby as a cat. Now we are married and have twins, a boy and girl we adopted three years ago when they were four.
We both had agreed it was better to adopt, then to try to have our own. There was no need to bring more kids into this world. There were a lot of kids that needed a home and loving family.
The twins and I were at a pet store looking for a kitten for Toby’s birthday. It was the twin’s idea, they knew how much he loved cats and has been wanting one. We were going to surprise him when we went home after his party.
“Dad, dad that’s the one!” Noah and Sophia yelled as they pointed to the kitten in the corner. It was a grayish black and white with bluish gray eyes. “It looks so fluffy and soft,” Sophia said as she went to get a closer look at the kitten.
“You think daddy will love that kitten?”
“Yes dad how could he not, he is so cute!” Sophia exclaimed, “Look dad the kitty is being silly!” The kitten was laying on its back and looking at Sophia as it touched the glass with its paw. “Dad we have to get this kitty for daddy!”
“You think so Noah?”
“Yes daddy will love that kitty.”
“Okay that kitten it is,” I walked over to counter.
“Hello sir, I’m Mark how can I help you?” Mark said.
“Hello Mark, yes we want one of the kittens.”
“Excellent, is there one in particular you want?” he asked as we walked over to the kittens.
“Yes we want the one in the corner that is laying on its back.”
“The grayish black and white with bluish gray eyes?” I nodded my head, “Okay.” He opened the cage door and reach in to get the kitten out.
“Is it a boy or girl?” Noah asked.
Mark looked at the kitten, “This is a boy, is that going to be good for you?” the kids nodded their head. “Great now who wants to held the kitten?”
“You can let my sister hold him,” Mark smiled as he handed the kitten to Sophia.
“Oh he is so soft and fluffy, feel him Noah.” Noah pet the kitten.
“Oh he is, dad feel him.” I chuckled as I reached to pet the kitten.
“Now what else can I help you with anything else or will this complete your purchase?”
“Dad we need to get the kitty food, toys, a bed and those things it can play in.” Sophia said as she hugged the kitten.
“Well you heard her, show us everything this kitty need.” Mark chuckled as he led us to the cat section of the pet store. The twin’s picked out everything for the kitten, they picked enough things for five kittens.
“Dad I don’t think we got the kitty enough toys.” Sophia said as I loaded everything into the car. “We should go and get him some more toys.” The kitten meowed, “See dad the kitty agrees.”
“Sophia he has enough toys, I think he even has more toys than you and Noah put together. If we get anymore, your aunt Karina isn’t going to hold the kitten for us and then we can’t surprise daddy.”
