We Got Trouble

Chapter Ten

        No matter what happened today, it was good to know that Toby was going to stay with me. All the doubt I had were gone, he felt the same about me. Now all I had to do was help him with Clayton and get his father to like me. Then it's a happy life together for us.

        I still wasn't all too sure about the plan, I couldn't help but feel like something could go wrong or that this just seemed too easy. However Toby said it wasn't going to be hard if the bottle was at Clayton's house.

     Just driving to work, listening to Karina and going over what we need to do when we go to Clayton's office had my head hurting. I was putting my brain to work harder than I have ever had it work. Not even in school did I ever get a headache this bad.

       I just couldn't help but feel like everything is going to go wrong. It was just in my natural to always assume the bad, because most of the time I was right about it.

        "Are you even listening to me?" she asked as I parked the car. Honestly I had no clue as to what she had been talking about. I knew as soon as I told her I wasn't listening she was going to smack me for it.

       "Um no," I flinched and braced myself for her punch, but she never hit me. I relaxed and looked at her, "What you're not going to hit me?"

    "I don't always hit you dork." She rolled her eyes. "So what are you thinking about?" I just shrugged my shoulders before I got out of the car. I walked away from her and headed toward the elevator. "Declan don't give me that crap, what's wrong?" she demanded as I pressed the button up to our new offices.

     I sighed and shook my head, "You don't get the feeling like something is going to go wrong with the plan?"

     "Of course, but if you just think of what could go wrong, of course its going to go wrong. So think positive and everything is going to work out." She said as the elevator doors opened and we got off. We walked towards Clayton's office, he was going to show us to our new offices.

     We were greeted by Mindy, Clayton's assistant. "Mr. Myer said to just let you two in," she said as she got up and opened the door for us to walk in. he sat behind his desk on the phone, he looked up and motioned for us to sit down. I sat down and looked around the office, but I couldn't see the crystal bottle Toby described to us. Just my luck, it was going to be in one of the drawers or worse at his home. He hung up the phone and looked at us.

      "So are you two ready to see your new office?" he asked as he got up.

     "Yes sir," we both said.

       "Ok Miss Mills I'll show you to yours first," Karina got up and followed him. I waited until he closed the door before I got up and started looking through his drawers. I found nothing in them, great he did kept it at home. I was really hoping that we were going to be able to avoid going there. I sent a quick message to Karina telling her I didn't find it and how we are going to have to go to Clayton's to get it. Yup I was sure something was going to go wrong now.

        Karina parked the car a few blocks down from where Clayton lived, the plan was to get in and get out as quickly as possible. After we get the bottle back, we go to the police and tell them everything that Clayton did. After that Toby would be reunited with his family and we all lived happily after. It all sounded just too easy.

     "Ok I'll be here waiting for you two and if anything goes wrong call me and I'll call the cops." Karina said as we got out of the car.

    "Ok and we will be out as soon as we can." I said as I closed the door. We walked to Clayton's house in silence.
