Chapter 3: We Are Fowls

Artemis shot through the doors, holding the boxes carefully in his hands. He was on his way to the lab. Surely he must have some forensic equipment. He didn't even need that much. It might not even need to be forensics equipment.

He rushed through the halls, bumping into Myles on his way. "Artemis?" Myles chimed. His twenty six year old brother did not stop though, and kept pushing forth to his lab to recover his forensics equipment.

Something is wrong, Myles thought, I must get father.

Now Myles was rushing. Rushing to his parents room, where he knew they would be with Ellie, his Niece.

He reached the door and knocked, opening it quickly. "Father, there's something wrong with Artemis. He's in the lab. I need you immediately." Myles said with urgency riding his voice.

Artemis Senior rose, a look of seriousness on his face. "Let's go. Angeline, notify Butler." Artemis Senior and his fourteen year old boy headed out to the lab. After walking back the way Myles had come, they reached the lab. They entered just as Artemis was setting up forensics equipment. There were two small boxes on the counter.

"What's happening, Artemis?" Artemis Senior asked, afraid for his son.

"Annmarie has been taken hostage once more. This morning when executing my deal with Yersuit. I'm running some tests on some evidence, hoping to find something. I have some suspicions, but it may very well just be paranoia." Artemis said. He finished setting up and took the boxes, first searching them for any fibres. Finding nothing, he brushed the boxes over with a white powder and searched for prints that weren't his own. He found two specimens, and put a special tape over them, pressing down on it with his gloved hands. He carefully removed the specimens after completing this with both and scanned them. "There." He said, removing his gloves. "I'll have results in about ten minutes."

"Artemis," Myles said. "Are you alright?"

"Quite frankly Myles, no. But acting up isn't going to help anybody right now, so the best thing to do is rather than sit down and weep get up and find her." Artemis replied, drumming his fingers on the countertop.

"Would you like to take those ten minutes to explain the situation to Butler and your mother?"

Artemis sighed. "Yes. That's probably a good idea." Artemis said. He was a little trembly. Obviously he was fighting himself with every bone in his body to stay calm. It wasn't working very well.

The three excited the room. Butler and Angeline who held her granddaughter in her arms stood not far from it with concerned faces.

Artemis walked over, drawing and exhaling a breath. "Annmarie has been taken hostage once more. If my assumptions are correct I already know who is behind this. I already know Yersuit took her, now all I have to find out is who he is really." Artemis said. Many thoughts spun around in Artemis's head. What does he want? Why does he need it? How could this happen? How could he have let this happen? Who is Yersuit really? Who is he? Who are you?

Angeline was speechless. Artemis took Ellie from her arms before she could drop her, as it looked like she may drop herself. She simply had no words. "What," she tried, "what do we do?"

"Leave this to me, moth- mom. Things are going to be fine." Artemis reassured her, though he wasn't sure himself.

"Come sit down, dear." Artemis Senior said, taking his wife over to a place where she could take a seat, and leaving the rest in the hall.

Artemis realized that Beckett was there as well. How would Beckett take it?

Beckett too remained speechless. No one spoke. Not even Butler had something to say at that moment. "Is she going to be alright? Are you sure you can find her?" Beckett finally stammered out.
