Phil's POV

Oh my god. He already has a nickname for her. Why am I so jealous? I can't take this anymore.

"Is it alright if Megan comes over for dinner?" Dan asked walking back over to the couch.

"Yeah, sure." I lied through my teeth. But she ain't cooking with us.

"Great" Dan smiled. "You two will get along."

I love seeing him smile and I love seeing him happy. But not when I feel like this. Which has never happened. Am I selfish?

"What are we making?" I asked.

"I was thinking spaghetti, its quick and easy."

"I AM THE GREAT PAPYRUS." I flung myself off the couch and ran into Dan's legs causing him to fall over next to me.

We were both laughing so hard. Dan stopped and took a breath.

"What would I do without you?" He asked his face red from laughing.

"I think we'd both be lost." I replied.

Dan stood up and held a hand out and pulled me to my feet. "Let's get started, Megan will be here in an hour or so."

I followed Dan into the kitchen and grabbed a pot. He turned the stove on and grabbed noodles. They began to boil.

"Can I ask you something?" I looked at Dan with a serious face.

"What's going on?" He stopped stirring the noodles and turned towards me.

"What's so special about her?"

Dan looked down. "There's reasoning behind everything. We went to that party, I met a nice girl and almost got laid. I feel that there's something special about her, something told me to go that party."

"You didn't do it... because of me." I looked at my feet.

"And she was drunk, Phil." I felt him looking at me. "And of course, I wouldn't have done it if she were sober. I wanted to. But you come first. You always do. You're the world to me. What if you were getting raped in the bathroom or something? I'm just glad that you got home safely."

I started sniffling. And tears began to run down my cheeks and hit the floor.
"Phil. I love you." Dan wiped my cheeks. "You're my best friend."

I smiled and put my hand on Dan's. "I love you too."

"Oh shit, the noodles." Dan quickly turned around and saw water boiling over. "That was close."
