India, Phoenix, Theo, Liam, Madison and Taylor decided to join me in trying to leave the city, the rest of the class were going to stay with Caleb and Alexa.
'Guys I hate to say it but I think we're going to need to split up, someone's gotta get the gates open, another's got to scan the building for other people who need help and another's go to get knives from the kitchen for self defence'
'Somebody has a death wish' Caleb remarked.
'Oh and you can talk?' I snapped back.
'WOAH you better watch your mouth Emily' Alexa got in my face. I just laughed at her, she was so pathetic but this was no time for arguing.I turned back to my group who were all still shivering with fear.
'India,Theo,Taylor you guys will head to the reception and get the gates open ready for us to sprint out of here, Phoenix, Liam and Madison you guys will go around the block trying to scout out any remaining survivors okay, as for me I'll head to the kitchen'
'ALONE?' Phoenix raised her voice ' IM COMING WITH YOU ITS TOO DANGEROUS'
'No Phoenix you need to go with them and make sure they're fine because I know I will be. Now guys we will meet back at the reception as soon as possible okay, be safe'
And on that note I smashed the window with the metal stool from the back of the class and carefully clambered out onto the roof below. I immediately gagged, the playground was like a bloody river, the air smelt heavily of the rich deep red liquid below. I was reluctant to climb down but I had to. As soon as I stepped into the blood it sunk into my trainers, it was warm and sludgy.
'Eughh' I squealed, 'disgusting'.
I tip toed out of the blood and onto the dry gravel. I crouched down and quickly bolted to the cafeteria. Empty? Strange. I thought it would be full of them. I darted to the kitchen and flung my backpack onto the untouched counter. I packed my bag full of the metallic kitchen knives.
*Creeeaaakkk* someone entered the kitchen.
'Crap' I whispered as I hastily crouched down behind the counter. My temperature rose, I could feel my face reddening and my hands becoming clammy. I soundlessly snatched my rucksack from the counter. My heartbeat getting louder and louder, beating faster and faster. I could hear the feint sound of footsteps being dragged from the opposite side of the counter. I scurried out trying to be as quiet as possible.
'OOOWWWW' I screamed at the top of my lungs as a sharp pain struck my shoulder, I collapsed onto the floor. My eyes became all blurry and the room was spinning violently.
'Arggg' they were getting closer but I was in too much pain and too dizzy to even lift myself up. Closer...and closer they got... As I was helplessly bleeding out.
