I stood there for a few more minutes, allowing the tears to roll off my burning cheeks. I shifted my hazel eyes to the corner to see Xia standing at the door.
"Cmon" She said like she wasn't fazed by the dead body before her. I didn't answer.
"UGH" She grabbed my wrist in an attempt to pull me away.
"WHATS WRONG WITH YOU" I shouted as I pried free from her tight grip. She looked down at the blood stained roof.
"I'm sorry" she quietly apologised.
"W-what?" I stuttered.
"I'm sorry" She repeated, her eyes still glued to the ground. Was Xia really apologising to me?
"I'm sorry for everything, it's just -" She stopped to take a deep breath, "My whole family died right before my eyes...and I couldn't do anything about it...I can't risk watching someone I care about die again... Especially Leon, he's all I've got now, I've become a horrible person because I've tried to stay away and prevent myself from becoming close to people".
I starred at her with sympathy. I couldn't imagine what she must have been through.
"You're not a horrible person" I reassured her. This time she looked up at me, her eyes now filled with tears too.
"I'm sorry about what you've been through" I felt guilty. She plastered a slight smile across her face.
"Anyways" She said whilst vigorously rubbing her eyes."We better get back to the others". I nodded in agreement.
We trotted back down the staircase and joined the boys.
"You alright Leon?" I questioned, he hit his head quite hard against the wall earlier.
"Yeah I'm fine thanks...Bandit didnt take too much either" I gazed into the room the thief ran out of, it was stocked up with supplies and rations.
"Woah" I whispered quietly to myself as I entered the room, my mouth watering from the sight of the luxurious food.
"May I?" I turned back to Xia and Leon.
"Of course...but not too much that has to last for all of us" Leon said.
I delicately picked up a bar of milk chocolate from the top shelf, which I then carefully unwrapped. I slowly sunk my teeth into the rich chocolate, it felt like forever since I'd last had something as delicious as that. As I munched onto the heavenly snack, Leon led Caleb and I to two other rooms, one for me and the other for Caleb. I turned the Cold metal Bronze door knob to my room and observed as it creaked open. Inside was a majestic bedroom with an on suit bathroom. My jaw dropped, it was so unbelievably fancy and well kept.
"Here" Xia handed me some fresh clothes."School Uniform probably isn't the best attire for the apocalypse" She joked. I took the clothes which were all black; jeans, a plain t-shirt, a hoodie and combat boots. She smiled and left the room, closing the door behind her. I plopped down onto the bed and sighed, this was great and all but it still couldn't stop the fact that the world was dying or distract me from what I knew was happening outside. I was scared...I have to admit, I still haven't gotten a chance to find my family and now I'm even more worried then ever.
