I glanced at Caleb, his eyes still drowning with tears, his face bright red and blotchy from crying. I'd never really seen him like that before, he was strong and usually hid his emotions well. Just watching him made me want to break down with sorrow but I tried my best to hold it together.
"Here we are" Xia booted open the metal door at the end of the staircase.
"Caleb" I stopped In front and starred into his glittering sky blue eyes. "We're going to get through this okay" He starred back with his sad drooping eyes, his dark brown hair a mess. I felt so guilty. I wrapped my arms carelessly around him and his around me, we both needed a hug after all this. I couldn't help but let a couple tears slip from my eyes, they landed on his white school shirt, staining the shoulder.
Eventually I let go and entered the corridoor alongside Caleb.
"Woah" my jaw dropped. It was completely untouched and perfectly clean.
"Yeah yeah" Xia rolled her eyes."How is this place so clean...blah blah blah"
"Cmon Xia no need to be so salty" Leon pushed pass, returning from...the Poppy incident.
"How the heck is this place so pure" Caleb choked.
"Well...no one was on the top floor when we found this place...so...no dead people or blood here" Leon explained.
"Can't say the same for downstairs tho" Xia gave a slight villainous giggle. I stopped in my tracks, I didn't trust them much but now I distrust them even more. Jokes about death? What on earth was wrong with her, just thinking about what lied downstairs gave me chills.
*CRASH*
We all leaped with fear.
"What was that?" I whispered as quietly as possible to the others.
"Ssshhhhh" Xia spat.
Leon slowly tip toed towards the direction of the noise.
*BANG*
We all cautiously followed behind. A shadow from under the gap of the door was visible.
*GASP*
I turned around to Caleb who was being way too loud and breathing too heavily. I widened my eyes and raised my eyebrows, ushering him to be quiet. Leon anxiously gripped onto the metallic bronze door knob and began twisting it faintly. All of a sudden the door flung open and Leon went flying backwards hitting his head on the wall behind. A figure covered in all black dashed out with a bunch of supplies and rations, the mysterious robber barged all of us whilst running past which sent us all to the floor.
"LEON" Xia got up and rushed over to him, she didn't care as much about the supplies being taken.
"HEY STOP" I immediately hopped to my feet and sprinted after the criminal who was headed back to the roof.
"STOP" I screamed at the top of my lungs but the figure didn't even look back. I darted back up the stairs and ruthlessly kicked the door wide open.
"STOP" I screeched once again to the bandit. Except this time they stopped to face me. Everything was covered apart from their eyes which I recognised but couldn't place anywhere.
"I - I thought you were dead..." The figure croakily said.
"What..?" They obviously knew me too. The bandit ran to the edge of the roof and began climbing down the ladder.
"WAIT WHO ARE YOU!?" They ignored me and carried on speedily clambering down. They dashed off as soon as they set foot on the ground.
Great... More too add to the confusion. I turned around and was shocked that I forgot Poppy's dead body was lying up here still. I clasped my hand over my mouth, the sight was repulsive. A bullet was jammed right between her deep brown eyes which were still open. Her body was lying in a pool of her own dark red blood which was almost black it was so heavy. Specks of the liquid covered her face. I gagged with disgust...I wanted to vomit.
"Oh my god" My eyes started tearing up again, except this time I couldn't fight them. First Mason...then Poppy...who next? I sank down onto my knees, my trousers soaked up with blood. Droplets from my eyes splashed into the coloured lake like rain droplets in puddles. I carefully reached over still bawling my eyes out and gently closed her eyes. I slowly began to pull my self together and lifted myself up I was covered in her blood, my hands dripping with it.
