Dan and I finally arrived back at the Apartments after a long day. The lobby was quiet and peaceful.
Our heels tapped against the tile, echoing through the area.
Ding. The elevator bell rang. Dan awkwardly stood in the corner as the creaky, old machine brought us up floor by floor. Finally, we reached our apartments, heading slowly to the doors.
"I had a good time." He cracked a half smile.
"Me, too. I can't wait to see Phil and Jenna again. They were so sweet."
"Yes. I've been best friends for Phil for about 7 years." He chuckled.
"God, that's a long time. Maybe, my friend Caroline can meet you guys sometime. That'd be fun."
"Quite so. Well, it's getting late, Frankie. I think I'm going to get ready to sleep."
"Oh- yeah.. Yeah. Me, too." I flipped my hair to one side looking at the ground.
"Well, goodnight, Frankie." His eyes slowly looked down at my mouth. I pursed my lips, anxiously. Is he gonna kiss me? Do I want him to? Do I even like him?
He smiled then stood up straight, repeating what he had said before. "Goodnight."
Then he walked into his apartment, closing the door, softly.
