Chapter 16-
**Nicole POV**
He was right. I was a horrible liar. But I didn’t mean for that last part to slip out. I guess I was just so caught up in the moment and worried about the whole birthday situation, that my mouth was just droning on and on with no end.
“Hey! Wait a minute…” I started as I finally realized the direction we were headed. “Why are we going towards the parking lot? There’s still one more class period left!”
“Oh did I forget to mention? We’re skipping today.” Matt said coolly, as if it were something he did all the time. At least, I didn’t think he did it all the time.
“What?! But I have Geometry next! We were supposed to finally be solving the giant equation written on the pyramid!” I whined as he caught my eye.
“Nicole, no wonder you have no friends. You're such a nerd!” He joked around, sticking his tongue out a bit. It suddenly struck me that he was right. I was a total nerd.
“Ugh, fine." I gave in, after a moment of consideration. If I don't say this now, I will end up changing my mind and walking right back into that buliding. "We’ll skip one period. Just this one!” I hastily added the ending.
“Alright, little miss ‘Perfect Attendance’, where to?”
“Well first… We’re gonna need a car. Obviously we can’t just hide around campus for the next hour.” I pointed out, kind of wishing we could.
“Oh hey, that reminds me. What did you get for your birthday?” Matt questioned, turning his full gaze onto me expectedly.
“Um... Well… I got a car. No big deal, considering I don’t have my license yet.” I then mumbled something unintelligible.
“What was that last part?” Matt asked clearly confused.
“Uh, Well, it’s just…” I wondered for a moment if I should tell him. “It seems like nothing compared to what Zoë got.”
“I actually think that’s awesome! You know, your one of the first in our entire grade to get a car? Well, except for Melody... But who cares about her, right? She’s just a backstabbing bit-” Matt cut off unexpectedly.
Curious as to what stopped his mindless chatter, I looked around. Oh. There was Melody. Staring at us. How much of that had she heard?
As she approached us, she spoke in what I assumed was a faked preppy tone. “Hey guys! Nicole, Matt. I was planning on talking to Nicole about something in Geometry, but she wasn’t there. So I excused myself to the restroom, and her she is!”
“Right… So, Melody, you… wanted to talk to me?” I muttered with a suspicious glare settled on her.
“Yeah, I do. But that would be in private. Matt, please, I’m going to take Nicole for a moment. Okay?” Melody asked sweetly.
“Uh-uh. No way. This is her birthday, and I’m not going to let some witch come and take her away.” Matt stated protectively. I swear, he is such a big brother to me sometimes.
“Matt, it will be fine. I promise.” I assured him, before taking a few steps away towards Melody.

I am TERRIBLY sorry for it taking me FOREVER to update.... I've been so busy with school and stuff, that I honestly just sorta forgot about Wattpad... :\

& I know this is horrendous, but I've had this chapter written for a few months now, and I kinda, maybe, possibly, forgot where I was going with this story...
Kill. Me. Now.
I know, I know. Writers block SUCKS.
Anyways, I'll come up with something eventually.... I hope....
Also, on a brighter note, this is my longest chapter so far! :D
And it only took me a few months to upload.... >:(
Has anyone else realized that 3 1/2 pages on Word is only 1 page on Wattpad? Grrrr!
