CHAPTER 6
Nicole POV**
As I walked off the bus onto campus, I knew I looked bad. I had to ride the bus. On my birthday. Alone. While my sister had a ride. On her birthday. Not alone. I saw a crowd forming in the parking lot. One person was standing in the middle, striking poses for the cameras. Zoe.
She was one of the most popular girls in our school. Of course everyone knew it was her birthday. But no one knew it was mine.
I just ignored the circle and started my walk toward homeroom with my head held high. Then I passed quite a few people who were smiling and snickering to each other. In their hands were pieces of paper. Invitations.
They all glanced up at me as I nudged my way through. As soon as I met their eyes they swiftly became more interested in the newest hot topic. They realized that the invitation only said Zoe on it. Not Nicole. They were obviously confused.
