So I've recently finished watching Alligent! (Idk how to spell it. Also, there may be a few spoilers for it and other dystopian movies like Maze Runner and Hunger Games)
And I've noticed a few cliches and annoying things in them... Despite the fact I do like dystopian, I'm just gonna put a few points that I dislike in dystopian stuff!
1. Storyline. Okay, is it just me or do all the storylines seem around the same? Like, there is this place which is being monitored or tested on by this other group that think they are better than them and the main character sparks a rebellion against them. The storyline may not be exactly the same, but they have the same elements.
2. Deaths. When the characters escape from the place they are being held in, there is always some sort of death or near-death that happens! And it's always only one death (or at least one death that is a character we know really well)! For example, Chuck in Maze Runner.
3. Special Main Character. The main character is almost always special somehow. Whether they come from a really poor family or have something in them (like being Pure) or being someone important. Can't we just have a 'normal' character that somehow gets caught up in the fight and has no ties to it whatsoever?
Yeah those are my things. There are more things that annoy me, but those are in individual movies and stuff.
