WRITING CONTEST ENTRY

There was nothing, except one thing. That thing called themselves 'Thing'. They were a human, fully developed and adapted, however they weren't from this time.
They had been sent back to do some important stuff.
Thing looked around at the nothingness. They wore a special air tank so they could breathe, and a special space that would only be created in the twenty-second century.

As calculated, something happened for the first time. The arrival of Thing had triggered something, meaning the whole universe could be created. Everything began to blur in front of Thing's eyes, and before they knew it they were sent forward...

Thing's eyes adjusted to the area. They were in some sort of rocky space ship that looked like an asteroid.
Thing knew exactly what to do.
They took control of the ship and started it up. They strapped themselves in and began controlling it, directing it to a planet that would one day be known as 'Earth'.
Thing showed no emotion as Earth came into view and the asteroid-ship began approaching it at incredible speed. They knew it would all be for the better.
Earth began to blur in front of them, and before Thing could react everything spun around and they were sent forward yet again.

They sat in the long grass, and watched as a group of men were killed by a mammoth. Thing blinked and got up. They knew that the men were meant to die. They're job was elsewhere.
The grass brushed against Thing's suit as they went to a tribe of people. Thing held their hands up in surrender as the men held their spears up in defence. Thing let them take them to their prison. Thing knew it would take a while, but Thing didn't give up.
It took a few weeks to earn the tribe's trust, however Thing did it. And Thing used that trust to teach them.
Thing taught them how to make good fires and houses, how to hunt mammoths, how to survive by themselves. Thing knew it was vital that they taught them, or the whole human race would fail.
Once they learnt everything, Thing's vision blurred yet again. This time, they welcomed it. The world spun, and soon enough Thing was some place else.

Thing did a lot. They taught, they destroyed, they created, they shapes history. They went all the way to the end of time.

Thing was in a dark room, and in it was a box. In the box was a note, that read:
Do Not Open Unless You Have Been Told To.

Thing reached out to the box and paused. They weren't make to hesitate. They were only meant to open it, no questions. But Thing did question. They wondered what was in the box. What would happen.
Then the guns started.
Thing knew that they were coming. The sound of a door being hit echoed across the room. For the first time on this adventure, Thing panicked. They were still.
Light filled the room. People were yelling. Shadows ran around and the sound of guns being loaded flooded Thing's ears. Thing knew they didn't want them to open the box. Their fingers were on the lid. They ordered Thing to step away.
Thing lifted the lid.
They opened fire.

Nothing.
At first, Thing saw nothing.
Then, a beautiful women appeared in front of them and they forced their head up to look at her.
"Welcome," she greeted, "Follow me..." Her hand was out and Thing took it, "To take your next step in life."
