Ash's POV

Well I'm having a bad time here in victory road. You're probably wondering why am I here? Well Dawn said she saw Gary and Misty here, so I decided to search have for them.

Every second I walk trainers kept on battling me until my Pokemon faints. Then I saw two figures coming towards me and they looked really familiar.

"Seems Arceus was right" Gary spoke "Yeah, Serena and the others are trying to locate us" Misty said

The two looked at me like I was some kind of bad guy and it hit me. They're still salty about the carnival 4 years ago.

"Yes we are still salty about it" Misty huffed "And don't bother teaching us how to awaken our powers, because we already figured it out" Gary arrogantly said "Geez, nice to see you again it's been awhile" a vein popped on Misty's head "IT WAS YOUR DAMN FAULT WHY WE ARE HERE!!" She snapped "Woah easy there" Gary said trying to calm a werewolf down.

"Well it's his fault that we got in this mess" Misty scoffed "It's wasn't my fault! Yeah, sure if we had just went to the carnival we wouldn't separated, but Arceus needs us! Serena needs us!" I exclaimed

I never felt so responsible in my life before. Every single day it gets heavier and heavier, I guess that's life and I can't do anything about it.

"Yeah, yeah, Serena better be ready to lead us" Misty uttered "What do you mean lead?" I asked "You don't know?" I shook my head "Arceus told us that Serena is the only one that can stop this mess. I thought Arceus told you" Misty said

Now that I think about it Arceus never spoke to me not one bit. Why though?

I shook my head as a reply "Actually I never spoke with Arceus, Serena is the one who constantly speaks with him and that's all I know" I explained "Well he did say that he will only speak to those who have a very important role when it comes to defeating Lysandre" Gary pointed out "What? Your saying that I'm important?" I hissed "not one bit! I'm just saying the truth!" Gary exclaimed.

"Stop! If Serena was here she would have scolded you two" Misty pointed out "Oh LIKE YOU KNOW HER!" I snapped "Hey! That's low dude!" Gary scolded

"Ash we're not saying that your not important for this quest, but it doesn't mean you have the right to shout at us!" Misty loudly said

All my journey I was always the leader, I never experienced being the sidekick or not get involved at all. Why am I acting like this? Is it because Serena is taking the lead on this major quest?

I bowed my head and stared at the ground "I'm a failure" I mumbled as I turned around and ran away from the two.

"Ash wait!"

Gary's POV

Man what's wrong with him? He was like that before, was it because the accident 4 years ago?

"Gary let's follow him!" I nodded and we ran towards Ash.

He went to a cave where no one was there I could hear screaming and sobbing inside. He kept on mumbling about Serena and that's when I remembered what Arceus told me.

"Ash was created with leadership, if he becomes a sidekick he won't feel be the same person you know"

"But Serena is the only one who can end this. You have to make him realize that not being the leader is alright"

I looked at Misty and she nodded, we entered the cave a saw Ash crying "Ash..."

He looked at us and shot a glare at me "What? You think I'm a pathetic loser or something? Cause' your right" he uttered "That's not what I was gonna say" I sighed

"Arceus told me-" he cut me off "Who cares?! I just don't want Serena to get hurt, because she's the leader! I don't like seeing my friends or the ones I love hurt, so I always volunteer to be the leader instead of them!" He exclaimed "But Ash that's a bit unfair.." Misty frowned "People learns and matures from leadership and pain. You need to learn that you have to give them the chance to be the leader for once" Misty explained

"Yeah, and your acting like a cry baby right now Ashy-boy" I smirked "S-shut up!" He pouted "You need to let them see that they can lead without you" I said "I guess your right but..." he looks at a necklace "I promised to protect her no matter what" he said "You can, but you just can't get in her way" I pointed out.

He nodded and stood up gripping the necklace tighter "Serena..." Ash mumbled "Anyway what's your power?" I Asked "Aura what's yours?" He said "the ability of shadows" I then made a shadow ball "I have the ability of water" Misty exclaimed.

Ash's POV

I guess they were right. I just can't always be the main. Someone also needs to be the next hero and I guess Serena's the new hero.

I just hope I can protect her like the way she protected me from pain and sorrow.

Serena's POV

"Take a deep breathe.....now!" I shot the aura sphere at the tree and the tree was no more!

The necklace glowed and I saw Arceus "I see your improving" I smiled at his comment "Well Ash found Gary and Misty just a few more to go " I nodded and continued on training.

My emotions won't get the best of me anymore!

I saw another tree, I positioned my self and surrounded my left hand with my Psychic aura as I punched the tree causing a massive hole in it.

"*pants* I'll never give up!" The aura disappeared and my left wrist got sprained "I just need to train harder....Ash give me strenght" I muttered.
