Evie

After paying the taxi fare, I pull myself out along with my bag and make my way to the door of the apartment complex. As I reach the entryway door into the complex I fumble through my bag as I reach James' and my apartment; looking for the key.

Unlocking the white, wooden door into our apartment, the warm air comes flooding out of the doorway and hits my cold body.

"James, I'm back!" I say loudly, hearing the echo of my voice bounce off the walls of the house. I slide my red coat from my shoulders and hang it over the hook near the door. From deeper within the house, I could hear slight mumbling; like someone was on the phone.

"James?" I question, toeing off my shoes and shutting the door as I dropped my bag on the floor nearby. His mumbling became rushed, the sounds of him hurrying to get off the phone as I found him standing in the living room. He pocketed his phone, turning to me with mock surprise as if he hadn't heard me yelling his name.

"Hey sis, when did you get home?" I folded my arms over my chest, raising an eyebrow as he tried to play it off.

"Who was that?"

"No one."

"James."

He paused, mouth open as he tried to come up with an excuse and a cloudy expression overtook my face.

"Our parents?"

"No, no." He exclaimed quickly, his hands in front of him like he could shove the idea out of my head. He heaved a sigh, his nostrils flaring as he ran a hand through un-kept hair. "My girlfriend."

I startled, eyes widening as he spoke and a smile taking over as he groaned.

"Evie." He whined as I squealed playfully.

"My little Jamie is growing up." I squeezed his cheeks, heading for the kitchen and grabbing a bottle of water.

"What's her name?" I questioned, taking in the way he scrunched up his nose as I hopped up on the counter and uncapped it.

"None of your business."

Laughing, I took a sip and held up my hands in a surrendering position.

"Alright Mr. Secretive then I guess that I won't tell you about my date in the makes."

"Woah, hey now." He narrowed his eyes, ever the protective brother. "Who?"

"Well." I recalled the day to him, his eyes ever growing as he struggled to keep up.

"Wait, wait. I knew you were going to take pictures of them but naked? Evie, seriously?" He sighed, banging his head against the cabinets by his head. He had sat down in the floor, his back against the cabinets, a few moments into your talking. He figured it would be quite a long story.

"Yes and now Luke gave me his number and I don't know if I should call? Text? What's the appropriate thing to do here?"

"Throw it away. Actually, give it to me and I will threaten him and then throw it away."

"James." I stared at him with an unamused look, waiting for him to roll his eyes and continue.

"But I understand you are now essentially an adult so text him if you like the guy and set up a coffee date, see where it goes. And if it goes anywhere, that is when I will threaten him." He smiled at me, jumping as I threw my empty bottle at him.

"Nice talk bro but I have a rockstar to text." I smirked, sliding off of the counter and using his words to build up my practically nonexistent confidence as I made my way to my bedroom. It had been a couple of hours since he gave me his number so I tugged my phone from my pocket, his number with it and typed it in quickly.
