Qiu Shuang's pov

"STOP! STOP!.... EEEEEKKKKK!"

I landed in a warm embrace as I glared at the innocent looking man.

"What?" he asked as he blinked innocently, still holding me in his arms.

"If only you could let me finish my work.." I muttered, slightly annoyed. We were cleaning up his office room; it was painstakingly messy.

Papers all around the corner, mugs of coffee piled on the little desk beside his work desk, ink on the carpet, cobwebs on the corner of the ceiling.

I wonder why no one came to clean it up for him. I was trying to clean this terrible mess but all Grayson did was annoy me to death.

And as I was on the ladder, brushing away the dust on the ceiling, I felt him shake the base of the ladder. Losing my balance, I fell off but he caught me anyways.

"Stop working. We could leave this to the cleaners..." he said huskily. "And do something more meaningful, hmm?"

That 'hmmm' sent a shudder down my spine. I know what he's talking about. But no. I have to finish what I've started.

"No. " I firmly pushed his inching close face away. "I should finish this. "

He pouted and gave me the puppy look. "Can we at least get lunch? I'm starving." he rubbed his tummy and sent me the wolfish look. "I don't mind eating you. "

I scoffed in disbelief as I tried to keep a straight face on, not wanting to give in.

"You get yourself some. I'm fine without eating." I replied as I climbed up the ladder once more.

He sighed and smacked my butt teasingly before muttering complaints under his breath while closing his office door behind him.

Cleaning up wasn't easy, but I managed to put everything neatly and even tried to scrub the stubborn stains that refused to leave his desk.

Looking at the cleansed room, pride crept upon me. I was proud of what I could do within three and a half hours.

But speaking of time, Grayson hasn't been back yet. He had gone out for an hour, and getting lunch couldn't possibly be hard for him, right?

I opened his office door to see if he was outside, eating his lunch but the whole floor was empty.

I wring my hands in agitation. Where could he be?

As the possibilities overwhelmed me, and my worry start to increase, I fear something had happened to him.

Where is he?

Grayson's pov
Me buying lunch became me rushing to the hospital to check on Tovi.

The doctor had phoned me to tell me that Tovi had early contractions and had to be sent to the hospital immediately and wait for her labour.

We weren't expecting this baby so soon. But obviously God had other plans and had wished for this baby to be born earlier.

What am I going to do with this child?

I don't want to admit it as my child. But I don't want it to grow up knowing that his dad is his grandfather.

Pacing rapidly outside the surgery room, I felt so hopeless. Tovi had been in there for an hour, and the doctor says the baby might come out anytime, so I had to stay with her 24 hours.

I stopped walking about abruptly and pulled out my phone to call the love of my life.

She's probably finished with the cleaning and waiting for me to come back.

The smartphone shown that I had set it on airplane mode; I face palmed myself.

How could I forget? I've set in to airplane mode so that no one could interrupt our 'cleaning session', not that I've expected much from her but I've promised her something memorable.

I set it back to normal mode and cringed at the notifications blaring in.

13 miss calls and 28 texts from Qiu Shuang.

Punching in her number, I phoned her and ponder what should I say to her as an explanation.

She picked up her phone. "Grayson?" she was worried.

"Hey. You done with cleaning?"

"Yes. Where are you? I must've called a thousand times...."

"To tell me you're sorry for everything that you've done?" I joked. I was going full 'Hello' on her.

"What?" she asked confusedly.

Ok, she didn't got my joke, means she's really worried sick. If not she'll laugh at my lameness.

"Nothing. Look, I'm in the hospital right now. Tovi had contractions earlier ago and they sent her to the hospital. I have to stay with her in case... You know, something happens." I was talking about that bastard of a Dad.

"Oh. Had you had lunch?" she is still worried.

I chuckled. That's Qiu Shuang. Always worrying about others instead of herself. She should be complaining about how I'm not there to help her instead of worrying if I've eaten or not.

"Not yet. I'll get myself some later, ok? Do you wanna come over?"

There was silence at the other end of the line. She was torn between giving me and Tovi some personal space or meeting me to spend the day together.

"I think I'll go home. I need a bath so badly. " she replied, cheerfully.

My heart ached at the words she had spoken. I've promised to spend the day with her today, because I've been busy almost everyday and it wasn't easy taking out time to be with her.

I know she's disappointed. I am too.

But life had other plans.

"I'm sorry baby. Get some rest, okay? It's most likely she'll give birth within a few hours. " I assured her.

"Okay. " she answers softly. "Love you. Be safe." and with that she hung up the phone.

I sighed as I kept the phone back to my pocket. I hope this would be over as soon as possible.
