Katie's P.O.V

"And that's the semantic field that Shakespeare intended to create when writing Romeo and Juliet. Okay, class dismissed... have a lovely weekend," Mrs. Arnold concludes, shooing her hands up in the air; crinkles forming by her eyes as she smiled towards the class.

I gathered up my things on the desk, placing them into my bag before swooning it over my shoulder. As much as I loved English Literature, I couldn't wait to leave the class. Purely because this has literally been a week from hell; exams were looming, parents were bitching and everything was just stress in general. Thank god for the weekend, I certainly needed a well deserved rest. The sooner I got out from this barbaric building, the better. I stood up from my seat and hurried out the classroom as quick as I could, only to be greeted with a familiar face staring at me. A toothy grin was plastered across her face, looking at me rather happily.

"Katieeee! Fancy seeing you here!" Lucy squealed out, her voice being a high and joyous.

"What, in the corridor of a school we both go to?" I replied to her, my sarcastic attitude evidently showing. So maybe I was a bit of a sarcastic bitch at times, but eh. People learn to live with it, especially Lucy, her being one of my closest friends.

"Alright twat, calm it. Who's put a twenty in you?" She joked with me, shaking her head once as her taller frame began following me. I laughed at her remark, now walking through the corridor alongside her. We fought through multiple of busybodies, trying to exit the school building and go home.

"Anywho, I needed to ask you, are you going that party tonight? You know, uh... ah, damnit. What's his name?! Simon... no, Stu- erm, no," Luce rambled onto herself whilst I proceed to fight our way out of the school building. I knew exactly what party she was on about, but I wasn't going. Nope. I wasn't exactly a 'party person', I hardly ever drank alcohol or anything like that. I suppose you could say I'm the stereotypical straight A, innocent and sweet child. Whereas Lucy, well, she was the complete opposite. Always partying, drinking, shagging anything that has a pulse... yet, somehow, she's still my best friend.

"Sam! That's it, Sam! Sam Lowe's party! You going?" The redhead blurted out, the name finally coming to mind.

She gave me a hopeful look as we stopped in our tracks once we were outside the school building. I shook my head, puffing out a sardonic laugh. She should know by now that I never go to these. Also, that Sam Lowe is a complete tool, honestly.

"Luce, why do you even ask me anymore? You know I don't do parties and people." I say to her, a small sigh escaping from my lips.

"Well, I retract that question. Let me rephrase that for you; you're coming to Sam Lowe's party." She says point-blank to me, earning an eye roll from me.

"No," I simply state, trying to remain as my stubborn self.

"I hear that Harry off the football (American football: https://vine.co/v/irg0AKUM61p) team will be thereeee..." She chirps, shooting a wink at me. Whilst I give a quick look of confusion.

"Yeah and I hear that Addi will be there. You know, his new fling?" I say quickly, folding my arms over my chest. "Also, drop this about us. He's solely my neighbour, nothing more. Alright?" I add in defence, squinting my eyes at Lucy. She knows this, but I swear she only does this to wind me up. The girl chuckles and I scoff at her, starting to walk ahead again. She soon catches up to me, grabbing me by my bag.

"'Neighbours'" She says in air quotations, looking at me like I had two heads or something. "If I had him as my neighbour, I swear I'd be all over him like a rash. Because I mean... damn," Her voice adds, continuing to walk again. Typical Lucy.
