★★★☆☆ Tree Snake

My second photography... thing I've posted here. I've called it the Tree Snake because this is a scenic walk in the Kirstenbosch (ker-sten-bosh) called the Boomslang. That is the Afrikaans word that means, 'tree snake'.

Now the pronunciation is tricky to describe without making a video of myself mispronuncing it. If I were to just break it up into syllables, you would still pronounce it like the onomatopoeia. It isn't just "BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE" but the 'oo' is strained, like you're getting seasick. Or if your a girl, the sound you make when get cramps.

So, really, it's more like "boooum" than "boom". That is the part that means tree.

The second part, slang, means snake. It's said in the same way you would say slang except with a long "a". That sounds like a "u". So really, it's "slung".

Can I just say how weird it is that I'm explaining Afrikaans like I can speak it? Lol. I barely pass in Afrikaans, I hate my teacher and I, rather unwisely, don't try to hide it. I am a one language kinda girl.

Ug, I hate Afrikaans.
