The tick of the clock is slow. The room is full of cool air. Traffic sounds on the streets below. You slowly open your eyes and gaze at the pure white ceiling. The room is completely silent except for the tick of the clock across the room. You look over to the alarm clock next to the bed. 6:45.
You stretch and sit up in the bed. The cool white covers cover your legs. You look to your right where Niall had slept on the cot. He's not there. His cot is there and his blankets are neatly folded on top. You lean over to see if his bags are still there, and they are. Everything looks packed up and already ready to go.
You get up, gather your clothes for the day and head into the bathroom. You step into the shower, knowing how to work it this time. As the warm water hits your back you hear the hotel room door close. You quickly shower and put on your clothes. Your wet hair drips down your back, soaking your shirt.
As you enter into the room you find Niall gathering all of the bags.
"Hey..." You whisper.
"Hey. Good morning..." He says as he throws the bags on to the bed.
"Good morning. What are we doing today?" You ask as you rub your wet hair with a warm white towel.
"Uh. Us boys have the day off. I was thinking of going to play a round of golf." He says as he takes a few items out of his bag.
"Oh, okay." You whisper as you turn around to go back to the bathroom.
"Unless you had something else in mind..." He says behind you.
You stop and slowly turn around.
"You would rather hang out with me than play golf?" You ask with a raised eyebrow.
"Sure. Why not?" He asks with a smile and shrug.
"Okay. Well, what about lunch and the beach?" You ask as you throw the towel on your shoulder.
"That sounds great. Let's go to the beach early that way there's not a lot of people. Then, we can go to lunch and maybe shop in Beverly Hills." He says as he takes the bags near the door.
"Sounds perfect." You say as you smile and head into the bathroom.
The beach is beautiful and has only a few people running alongside the water. It's a small beach a little north of Laguna Beach. It's a beach that the man at the front desk at the hotel had recommended. His recommendation was much appreciated.
"This is nice..." Niall says as he plops down on the cool sand.
"Yeah, it really is..." You say as you sit next to him.
"We don't have places like this in London." He says with a small laugh.
"Yeah, but you do have Big Ben and the Prince Harry." You say as you smile over to him.
"Oh, you're a Prince Harry girl are you?" He says with a raised eyebrow.
"Prince Harry is very cute..." You say with a laugh and nod.
"Well, London is nice but I do miss Ireland a lot." Niall says as his voice grows quiet.
"What's it like there?" You ask.
"Mullingar?" He asks as he looks over to you.
"Yeah. What's it like?" You ask as you continue watching the ocean waves roll in.
"It's quiet. Everyone knows everyone. I just feel comfortable when I'm there. I guess that's normal. That's where I grew up." He says as his blue eyes stay focused on the ocean waves along with yours.
"My town in Missouri was the same way..." You whisper, remembering your friends and family back home.
"You're not from L.A.?" Niall ask as he furrows his eyebrows and looks over to you.
"What? No. I just moved here like a week ago..." You say as you look over to him.
"Wow. I thought you were from here." He says as he wips off his sandy hands.
"Oh, no. I'm from a small town in Missouri." You say with a nod.
"Oh. Do you miss it there?" He asks.
"Not really actually. Although, I haven't really had time to miss it. I was here for like a day and then all of a sudden I was thrown into your world..." You whisper as you look back to the crashing ocean waves.
"Can I ask you something?" Niall asks quietly.
"Sure." You say as you look back to him.
"Do you like this life? The concerts, the hotels, the people everywhere all the time?" He asks as his eyes stay on you.
You take a deep breath and look back to the ocean again. That was a hard question. You weren't sure if you loved it or hated it. Or maybe you just weren't sure. Never in your life had anyone paid you the attention that you've been given the last few days. Suddenly everyone cared about who you were when nobody had ever even noticed you before. It was a change that you still hadn't fully adjusted to.
"I don't know..." You whisper as you look back to Niall whose eyes are still fixated on you.
"Neither do I..." He whispers back.
