The shrill cry of the alarm goes off right at 6:00 a.m.

You groan and slowly sit up in your bed. As you look around your small room you look at the bare white walls and the dull grey furniture that is scattered around. The evening before you and Audrey spent your time fixing up the living room but now it's time to turn your attention to your bedroom. It needs color and life back into it.

You take a deep breath, smile and make your way to the large window to the left of you. You peek behind the dirty curtains at your beautiful view. Just a bit over the tops of houses you can see the cool blue sea looking back at you. The sun is just rising and the world is still quiet. You shut the curtains again and start getting ready for the day ahead of you.

"I'm excited for my first shift!" Audrey says as she applies her makeup in the small bathroom.

"I bet. You've always liked waitressing..." You say as you go through photos on your camera.

"Yeah. I normally get pretty goos tips. I mean, waitressing is all that I really know. For now it will just have to do." She says as she finishes applying her cherry red lipstick and smacks her lips together.

"You know that you get your tips because of how pretty you are right?" You whisper as you smile lightly.

"What!? No way. You're crazy..." She says through quiet laughter.

"Really. All of the boys in school were crazy about Audrey Forbes." You say as you set your camera on the bathroom counter next to her makeup bag.

"Mhm, sure..." She says as she smiles at you and zips up her makeup bag.

"So, when is your shift over?" You ask as you lean against the hallway wall and cross your arms.

You're only a few months older than Audrey but it's like you're her mother. You've always been the more reserved one while Audrey is outgoing and full of spunk. She was one of the most popular girls in school and you were just the girl that she hung out with. The boys really were all over her. She's so used to attention that she doesn't even realize when she's getting it anymore.

"I start at 9:00 and get off at 5:00." She says as she walks past you and throws her makeup bag into her purse.

You watch her as she waltzes around the apartment grabbing everything that she needs to take with her. Her long blonde hair swings in it's ponytail as she moves quickly. Her bright blue eyes are lined with a thin line of black eyeliner and her thick lips are dressed with her regular cherry lipstick. She always manages to look like a supermodel. Even if she's only in a waitressing uniform.

"Okay babe. I need to go now. Love you! Have a good day!" She squeals as she throws her purse around her shoulder and waves goodbye to you.

"Bye. Have a good day at work!" You shout as she slams the door behind her.

"And just another day for boring ol' me..." You whisper as you shake your head and look towards the back of your apartment.

You go into the bathroom to fetch your camera and look at yourself in the mirror. Your skin is mostly clear, your eyes a light green and your hair is a chocolate brown. You look just like your mother. You could be her younger twin. Except your mother has a more narrow face. You have a square face and you hate it.

You pick up your camera and decide to go out for the day. You don't want to be locked up inside all day as Audrey enjoys her first day at a new job. So, you grab your camera, your purse, and head out into the Laguna Beach morning. The air is cool and smells of sea water. Just like your apartment.

You walk a few blocks from your apartment and are at the beach. There's a small mock lighthouse that you find and snap a few photos of it. The photos come out perfectly because of the natural light on the beach. There are barely any people around. Just a few people running along the beach exercising and a few people sitting on the beach, spaced out rather far from one another.
