Emilia didn't hesitate locking her door when she got home. She pressed her back against it trying to catch her breath, she wasn't in the best of shape after all.
"Connie?" a voice asked softly from across the room. Emilia stiffened at the thought that someone was in her apartment, when she didn't answer the man repeated himself; then asked a different question. "Who are you?"
She let out an ear piercing screech when the deep, raw voice echoed throughout her living room, and she could no longer ignore it. She slowly opened her eyes refusing to make eye contact with the man who was leaning against the island located between the kitchen and living room. Emilia Hate was a smart girl, she could put two and two together, so when she noticed the long hair, war paint, mask, and bionic arm she started to vomit her dinner up across the living room floor.
"Who are you?" he asked again, frustration laced through his voice as he stood up taking a step toward her, clearly not messing around.
"My name is Emilia Hate, I swear I don't have anything to do with SHIELD, please don't hurt me," she pleaded, looking up at her ceiling. He stared at her, looking confused, "What do you want?" Her voice shook as she tried to act brave.
"Do you know anyone named Connie Sails?"
"What?" The question threw her off, it was such a normal thing to ask. "Not a Sails," she muttered.
"What?" He asked raising his voice.
Emilia threw her arms in front of her face, "I knew a Connie, but her last name wasn't Sails."
He stood up quickly making the woman jump against the door frame, he walked right past her ripping the door open, breaking the lock. She didn't watch him go, couldn't bring herself to move. She fumbled for her phone trying to call Madi, but it went to voice mail. After shaking her head she quickly dialled nine one one.
"Nine one one, what's you emergency?" a male asked gently.
"I, I uhh want to report a, a break in," Emilia explained shakily. "Two one two Water Street, apartment three zero four."
"Okay stay calm, what's your name?"
"Emilia Hate," she answered.
"Are you injured Emilia?" He asked.
"No," she muttered looking at the floor, ignoring the mess she had just made.
"That's good, responders are on the way Emilia. Did you see the intruder?"
"Yes," Emilia answered starting to space out, going into shock.
"Did you recognize them?"
"Yes."
"Okay, police should just be arriving."
Emilia turned around to see two uniformed men coming up the stairs, across the hall from her door.
"Yeah I see them," she said hanging up her phone.
"Are you Emilia Hate?" one officer asked. He had piercing blue eyes, and crisped cut brown hair, if she wasn't so distracted she would've thought he was hot. She nodded in response moving out of the doorway.
The two entered, stepping around the puddle of half digested food. "Was your lock like this when this when you got home?" The second man asked, who looked like he could be related to the other guy, except for his brown eyes.
"No, he did that when he left."
"You saw him leave?"
She nodded again as they explored the rest of her apartment.
