Prologue

In the year of 20XX, the mayors scientist, Alphys, created a serum that made it possible for monsters to find their soulmate. Asgore, the mayor of the town of Underground, decided to hand out the serum after popular demand. Monsters who took the serum found the name of their soulmate located on the inside of their wrist, normally of their dominant hand. After monsters who took the serum had children, their child would already have the serum inside of them when they are born. If children's parents didn't take the serum, then doctors would insert it into the child through a needle. Scientists soon found out that children couldn't see the name of their soulmate until they turn 16, before that age, the place where the name should be looks more like a black smudge from a marker. The serum knows no limits, for race, gender, religion, and many others don't affect who someone's soulmate is.

When the news about not finding out the name of everyone's soulmate until you're 16 came out, kids tried to rush to their 16th birthday, at least wanting to find out the name of their soulmate.

Monsters had thought that this was the only downfall of the serum at first, until reports of monsters randomly feeling pain came about. The pain could range from a slight bump of the elbow to the feeling of their skull being split open, some monsters would also mysteriously end up dead. Scientists ran tests and deducted that when someone's soulmate was injured, that they would be injured in the same way, as well as if their soulmate died.
