Updated: Spelling Check
Okay, I'm sorry I haven't been on Wattpad a lot lately. I've just been really busy with work and my studies.
I hope this makes up for that though.
________________________Chapter twelve
29th of February 2016
Two months later:
I am in the reception office, handling the money and new residents with Houdini, aka Sammy fiddling with some of his toys.
He is five months old now and I don't even bother to strap him in anymore. Over the past two months, he has proven his nickname correct. Every time someone straps him into a seat or leaves him in his crib he is crawling around outside in a matter of minutes.
One time I strapped him in a car seat to come with me to go grocery shopping and by the time we were there I found him on the car seat floor playing with an old empty coke bottle.
It scared the crap out of me knowing he could have easily died if we had gotten in an accident.
So now I don't take him anywhere in the car.
The kid just doesn't like being restrained.
He has also proved that he is incredibly smart. He hasn't even come close to speaking yet but he knows how to nod, shake his head and point perfectly.
He is a little, rebellious, genius baby for only a five-month-old.
Dad was even impressed and it takes a lot to impress him.
I am speaking to a sweet old lady and her son to sort out their sleeping arrangements. The woman must be in her early forties but she already has a head full of long grey hair. The guy has black hair and they both have brown eyes. In fact, they are almost identical with their long noses, thin cheekbones and height. The guy only has subtle changes like the width of his chin and his huge eyes.
He seems like kind of a dick and he is around my age which has so far resulted in him hitting on me every chance he gets.
I don't think he has noticed Sam yet which really isn't a surprise. For a baby he is fairly quiet during the day. He is my little angel.
"We'll take a caravan slot. Me and Tyler are on a family vacation. I just needed to get him away from the drugs and prostitutes, you know?" The woman explains with a sweet smile.
Tyler looks horrified by his mother's choice of words and blushes as I muffle my chuckles behind my hand.
"No. We don't have that stuff down here but I'm sure I can ask some of the local officers if they can lock him up a few days and give him a real scare." I offer, my sincerity genuine but also I just love the look of horror on Tyler's face.
His mother laughs and although I don't think she is going to agree she does put on a show of considering it for her sons' benefit.
"I appreciate it but I'd rather keep him close." She winks, handing me over the money for the slot.
I grin and hand over her receipt.
"He's adorable, is he yours?"
I turn to look over at Sammy who is trying to fit a triangle into a square slot with a blue dummy in his mouth.
He looks up and gives his famous toothless grin before going back to finding the right slot for each shape.
I turn back around to smile at her proudly.
"Yep, he's five months old."
She nods then gives Sammy a little wave while Tyler just gives him a blank stare.
"Babies are stupid." Is all he says which gets a hard whack to the back of the head.
I am irritated with him and deciding to prove him wrong I turn back to Sammy.
"Hey Sammy, are you having fun?" I ask to which he gives an unbalanced nod. "Does your nappy need to be changed?" Shake of the head. "Are you hungry?"
At that, I get a grin and without warning and much to my surprise, he slowly and clumsily pushes himself onto his feet and stumbles towards me with his arms outstretched.
These are his first steps and I am so proud of him.
As soon as he is close enough I scoop him up into my arms and give him a big wet kiss on the cheek.
When I turn around I find Tyler looking at my son in surprise while his mother grins happily.
"You have a genius for a son. Tyler didn't start walking until he was over a year old."
I laugh and bend over to grab a room temperature baby bottle filled with my breast milk.
Sam still doesn't like drinking cow's milk or eating food but he is willing to drink my milk from a bottle and I am grateful.
My nipples are beginning to hurt from his constant sucking.
I think I'll wait until he finishes teething to give him baby food.
Sammy is just so smart and I have a feeling that those are Jared's genes kicking in again. His mom had told me when I was younger that he was a very fast learner.
He is so much like his father and though it hurts that he isn't with me I am glad I have a piece of him. Always.
